Works great and simple.
I spent several months looking at units for my daily driver truck which is quite old and ultimately settled for this unit due to the amount of features, the overall average reviews, the fact my truck is old/not worth much investment, and low price of this unit. A detailed write up of my observations/experience so far with this unit (go to bottom for tl;dr): 1. Install -Very straightforward if you've installed systems before and really there's no need for a manual since the wiring harness is marked as long as you buy the wiring harness adapter for your vehicle and/or look up the correct wires. -The rear view camera appears to be activate on video, or activate via signal cable via reverse. I used the activate on video signal as I already had the backup camera wired to the reverse lights and it powers on automatically. -The antenna input is in the unit and so far works fine, don't forget to run power to your power antenna if you have one, or you might not get great reception. I tied in my power antenna power cable to the unit power so it activate with the vehicle power on. No issues with radio reception at all. -Inputs/Outputs - I'm not currently using these but they are there. -has rear/front USB ports. -auxillary microphone, this unit comes with the auxillary mic and adhesive. It plugs into the 3.5mm jack on the harness. The mic reception is great, I installed it through dash, up the pillar, and behind the rearview mirror near the center front of the vehicle on the windshield. It is one of the best microphones I've used and calls are very clear for both me and the other person(s). *Note: If you want to bypass the video restrictions you will want to wire your parking wire to something that's always activated while the vehicle is on such as the power. Do at your own risk, but a nice feature if you have passengers/kids and want the video to play while moving for them. 2. Functionality -Bluetooth - connects quickly and supports audio pass through. auto activates if you have an app open. The only downside is that some contacts don't seem to display the name from my phone book on the head unit for incoming calls- not sure if that is my device, and/or some technicality in the way the phone number is saved or this actual unit. The unit supports having multiple phones added, but is a bit weird in switching them. This unit does not support any Android Auto or iPhone Driving integrations, but it doesn't claim to so no problems here. -Radio - tunes well and presets are easy to set, just hold down and it saves the stations. -DVD/CD - haven't used this yet. -Front Micro SD Card Slot - I tried a few times to use a 128gb micro sd card for some random test videos, the product states it only supports 32gb so maybe it's just my fault, but if not all I get is incorrect media format errors or I can see the videos, but they won't play. -Front USB - same issue as SD Card slot, not sure if my video formats, but won't play my .mp4 or .mpeg videos of 64gb USB Stick. -Touchscreen/Responsiveness/Readability - never seems to lag works well for me. Has brightness adjustment, I never have issues with glare, but never did as this unit is not mounted at an angle. Supports auto-dim if your vehicle has the dim feature when headlights go on for night driving (most new vehicles do). -UI/Icons/Usuability - works well, icons not customizable, you can't put the most commonly used icons on the first screen, instead you have 3 hard coded home screens. Not a big deal for me. One downside is that there is no menu option to change the led color of the head unit buttons. -Backup Camera - touched on this earlier, but this works well and automatically activates on reverse if installed properly. -remote - works well and comes with a batter, I don't use it much though, just tried it out a few times. tl;dr - works well overall on major functions, lacks ability to customize home screens or button backlight colors. Comes with microphone, harness, and remote. Have had issues with MicroSD/USB but probably just me. Bluetooth quality great, supports Bluetooth passthrough and phone calls.

Cool product, works well
Fits my 2004 WRX very nicely. I had to do some modifications, nothing drastic though. So when mounting my WRX stock mounting plate (from the stock radio) to the unit and then installing it into the head unit, the boss audio radio was "set back" a little from the "face plate". So basically there was a tiny gap from the face of the radio panel to the screen. So what i did was add a few (2-3) washers to "push" it out a little more and now it sits flush with the face of the panel. ...just a note...a couple times (2) when turning my car on, the screen was faded a little, i turned the radio set off and back on and it solved the problem so keep that in mind. UPDATE May 13, 2015....be aware that turning volume up all the way may cause distortion in sound, i have yet to mess around with sound settings to figure out where exactly the issue is, if its with the unit or the amount of output power....but i do notice that with some songs the lyrics come out "scratchy" Also what i did was purchase a wiring harness so i didnt have to cut/splice all the wires to the stock harness. That worked out well (also bought that through amazon). The touch screen works well, i haven't figured out how to properly get the blue tooth to work for my cell phone - it will play the music fine, but for the "hands free" calling, i cant seem to get them to hear my voice - i will tinker with that sometime soon and hopefully figure it out. Cool features - you can pick a background you'd like (if i remember correctly there are 4 different options) when playing a CD. Just thought that was kinda cool. The touch screen works well, sometimes takes a little more pressure to get the buttons to work, but i actually like that better so its not like "oops touches the screen now the next song it on". Good product and it comes with a 1 year manufacturing warranty

Very cool unit overall
Just installed this unit yesterday in my 2008 Altima Coupe. So far it works great, but I was a little disapointed in some areas. First for the positives. Installation was a breeze. If you've ever installed a car stereo before, it should be pretty easy. The only curve ball I got was with the DVD player. There is a light green wire that you're supposed to connect to your parking brake light, but rather than rip my whole car apart trying to do that, I simply grounded the wire so it works all the time. The functions are easy to use, and the touch screen works well for the most part. Syncing my phone to the bluetooth was easy too, only took a coupe seconds, and it's still synced after turning the car off and turning it back on. I haven't tried making any calls yet, but I'm confident it'll work just fine. It also comes with a microphone you're going to have to run from behind the unit to somewhere on your dash in order to make phone calls. Everythings labeled on the back of the unit if you plan on installing a backup cam or a sub as well, which i plan to in the near future. For the negatives, which are very minor. The equalizer is somewhat limited from what i can tell. You're only able to change the treble and the bass, and it only comes with "pop" "rock" and "classical" presets. Obviously this is good enough to get by, but I was hoping to be able to customize the sound more. For me this could also be a good thing, because it gives me less to worry about really. I always try to get the most perfect sound, and if there's more options, then I'm always messing with the equalizer. Also, unless you use the remote, you're music automatically stops when you return to the home screen to play with the equalizer, which is annoying when you're trying to get the sound right. Another dissapointment was when I plugged my iphone in the USB port...and nothing happened. Turns out this USB drive only supports USB flash drives with media stored on them, not phones/ipods. It didn't even charge it. There's also a USB wire on the back of the unit that I plan to experiment with, but when I plugged my phone into that it would charge for a second, then stop for a second, the charge for a second, and stop again and so on. The dissapoinment was the blue tooth quality. This might have to do with my install, but playing music through the blue tooth mode produced a significantly lower quality than a CD or AUX chord. There was some static and it just didn't produce the same bass. I'm sure it's fine for phone calls, but I'm going to stick with an AUX chord for now. Don't let these negatives scare you away (unless you only want this unit for these specific features I'm talking about). I love the unit so far, and I can't wait till I get all my other goodies install as well.

4.5 stars. I purchased this aftermarket radio after reading multiple reviews. I purchased the wiring harness for my vehicle as well. I have a 2008 Toyota Sienna. I also purchased the double DIN mount for my vehicle make and model. Another must to make installation easy. The mount and harness came together in another Amazon purchase for an extra $25 My original radio swallowed a CD and would give it back. My family lives listening to books on tape when traveling. This was awful and we waited just under two years to make a new radio purchase. This would be my first aftermarket install. I purchased some tools for removing the paneling quickly and without damage. This was an extra $9 Read some other posts and you'll find out about grounding and the parking brake wire. You may want to use a toggle switch and expoxy the switch to the top of the brake frame so your foot can toggle the switch, just saying. Toggle switches are about $6. I chose to solder the wire harness on and use heat shrink to make a cleaner wire connection than nuts or butt end splice. I already had the solder iron b and the extra solder was about $4 . I already had the heat gun and heat shrink. My first go with the radio with the kids was to Grandma's house. No fighting at all. Occasionally, I can't see. Did good. Only problem was kids didn't sleep while traveling. Not too bad. The only real issue I didn't like was the lack of ease with the radio. The seek for radio is not present. You have to go through each station to set up your radio channels. This is also not very good for travel. Minus 1/2 star for that. The blue tooth works very good. Mounted the Mic up high on the back of the light above the rear view mirror. Works really good and used up most of the Mic wire and it's hidden. Tried out Bluetooth calling grandma and she could hear skill the kids even in the back row. Streaming also works good. Only heard an occasional click like a turntable click. Don't know if it is the radio the phone or the streaming company. Not a big issue. So if your willing to purchase the mount, wire harness, tools, it will cost a little more but make the installation easy. Great product. Low price. Do it.

You get what you pay for...it's cheap and it shows.
I purchased this when it was on promo a few weeks back - I mean it is a touchscreen audio system with USB, bluetooth, and more. Seems like a great device for $100! What can go wrong? Well, a lot can - read on! I received this a day after I ordered and got it professional installed in my 2007 Scion tC and paid an additional $200 for harness and accessories to get this working in my car. Specifically: 1. A wiring harness for Toyota vehicles 2. Adapter to get steering wheel interfaces working with the unit A day after, the device didn't seem 100% working as it should or expected as it should based on the specs and other reviews here. Some notes and issues right off the bat: 1. The screen is very reflective but usable. However, the UI was not laid out well and not intuitive right away. Boot up time seems to take a while. 2. Tried to pair the bluetooth with my iPhone 6 Plus and never got it work. There was a minor but audible hissing sound when in this mode. My phone asked for a code to pair and nothing on the touchscreen displayed on what do next. Manuals were horrible and not helpful. 3. None of my USB drives worked in either the USB plug or extension. For the most part, this was a dealbreaker. All my drives had no issues playing in other car audio systems in other cars. 4. SD and CD quality was good when listening to MP3s once I got EQ and audio setting set for the 700th time. See $5.. 5. Audio quality and settings and getting them to save WAS A PAIN and NEVER WORKED - I spent sometime setting up the right EQ, loudness, and volume settings for my car. However, everytime I changed an input or turned off my car the EQ settings would revert back to factory default. Very annoying to recalibrate everything over and over just to get it so sound right. Who wants to sit for 5 minutes calibrating audio settings everytime you start your car! No way, sorry Boss, your product is crap. 6. It's rebooted a couple of times on it's own. WTF? After a week, I decided this system wasn't cutting it - the number of issues were adding up and for a sound system that should just work out of the box. It's an investment for your car - a long term one. Given these these issues right off the bat, I didn't have much confidence on it's ability in the long term. For the base functionality it was supposed to do from my expectations based on what it advertised it could do (load MP3s from USB and be able to connect my phone do it), it didn't work as advertised. I decided to return and purchase a Pioneer unit and want back to my professional installer to swap out the unit out which meant more money spent on installation and labor ($125). An added expense that shouldn't been spent if the cheap Boss unit couldn't do what it was supposed to do correctly out of the box. So, in my case a good deal meant spending more than I had to because of crappy product. After testing the Pioneer, the product experience and quality was night a day on the Pioneer compared to the Boss unit.

Cheap unit , good for BT and back up camera option.
This unit is cheap and you get what you pay for it. IN my opinion I would rather a microphone in the unit rather than a wire microphone that look like a big fly in any part of the dash . The 80 watts amp is much better than factory radio amp, the speakers sound better and louder. The bass is great but the equalizer options are bad , you can choose among rock, pop or classic and in all options the only thing that change is the level of BASS, yes , rock equals loud bass, pop equals medium bass, and classic little bass nut not treble or voice options. The screen is crispy clear for a back up camera. DVD player is Ok. Brightness of the screen in the sun is not good but if you are driving you shouldn't be looking at the screen anyway. The power bottom you have to press it for a long time to turn on or off . The touch screen responsiveness is bad. The only reason I didn't return it was because I use the BT to answer calls and I use a back up camera when driving in reverse but for the price I didn't expect to be an awesome car stereo. I will suggest to spend more money if you want something better but if you are flexible to deal with a mediocre and not so good stereo this is the one .

FORD RANGER INSTALL
This is a really nice stereo! It surpassed my expectations. I purchased the proper cable adapter for my Ford Ranger and it was simple as pie to install. Plugged and played. I have At first the radio would not stay on the right station for more than a few moments and would suddenly start searching all by itself. The next day when the excitement wore off I read the manual (heh) and when I set the date and time.....It started working properly. It is a little difficult to adjust the camera setting because it won't allow that when ir camera mode. You have to keep switching the camera on and off as you adjust it. The only thing I am sorry about is the time I took to finally order it. The vehicle itself gave me a lot of grief during the initial install. Ford decided that double DIN was to be a little undersized in their trucks. The opening was the proper width but not vertically. I had to shave off a full quarter inch from the top and bottom of the plastic insert that comes with the radio. There is a metal casing that comes with the radio and it was not going to fit into the opening even after trimming. I cut the offending metal from the top and bottom and attached just the sides to the radio with the screws provided. I had to bend them outward and the edges slightly inward so that they fit and gripped against the side edges of the Ranger bezel. There were 2 little metal angle pieces and I attached them (with the same screws) in such a way that they fit against the bezel to keep the radio tight against it. Only took about an hour to figure this out.

It's incredible for the price
I just bought the Boss Audio system for my 2003 Subaru Outback. I needed something to listen to the music on my phone while I drove, and I heavily judge other people when they drive with headphones in, so I decided not to go that route. My car is slightly too old to have any bluetooth or USB capabilities, and slightly too new to have a cassette where I could plug in one of those aux cord to cassette things. Luckily, I came across this head unit and it's probably the nicest thing currently in my car, and it only cost me just over $100. It's amazing for the price. Without further ado, let's get to the pros and the cons. Pros: - The bluetooth works nicely, I now have more options than fuzzy country music! - It looks awesome in the car - I can pretend I'm rich with a touchscreen radio - I easily got my money's worth in the first month of listening to Spotify on road trips - The fitment is flawless Cons: - Get the damn adapter harness!! It took me somewhere around 96 years to install this wire by wire without an aftermarket harness. - It takes like 8 seconds to start running the radio from when you start the car (it's not that big of a deal) - It doesn't have some features that a higher end touch screen radio would have - You can ground the parking brake wire and watch DVDs while driving (I'm not 100% sure that's a con) Overall: This radio is the best purchase I've made for my car and I keep trying to show my friends at every single chance. It's a great deal for what you get. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if I needed one, but I'm too poor to have two cars. It's not the best head unit, but it's the best for the price.

Sounds good unless you have your phone attached...
I like the audio system however, my phone/ipod doesn't work through the USB lead and only plays via Bluetooth. With regards to charging my phone this can only be done when the phone is turned off and I am unable to listen to the radio whilst the phone is connected.

Great value! Let's hope it lasts!
So far so good! Sound is fine, can't seem to find bass and treble setting but there is the EQ. Just wish they advertised the operating temps first! It gets cold up here it the North, often below -20c so we'll see how it does! Beats the factory unit by far! DVD &CD with pre amp outputs for all channels!
