Mineral Treasures of the Ozarks

This unique book belongs on your coffee table or next to your rock collection!
This is NOT your typical reference-style book about rocks and minerals. This book is unique and should be out on your coffee table or next to your rock and mineral display! Very enjoyable to read, it is filled with pictures of all kinds, many taken by the author himself on his many geological exploits in Missouri-Arkansas. Because it is not a reference book, it is easy to read, whether you simply thumb through it a page or two at a time or whether you read a chapter at a time. I myself have a hard time putting the book down!In this fascinating book, you’ll learn about Mississippi Valley Type (MVT) minerals and their occurrence in the Midwestern United States. It’s also interesting to learn of the occurrence of MVT minerals in other parts of the world as well, which the book addresses.Part geology, part history, and part rockhounding, this book is enjoyed by both rockhounds as well as non-collectors who simply enjoy nature and the earth’s natural beauty. One of my all-time favorites!

Great Rock Book on History and Collecting
This is a great book over Missouri rocks and history. I actually got this book from the author. It is a great book covering the history and geology of MVT rocks. It includes a lot of information on tiff or barite! The book is divided into chapters with each chapter being about certain type of mineral or rock.In addition, there is some fossil information which is helpful since I look both rocks and fossils. This is a unique book for the area and if you are into Missouri rocks, rock history, fossils, and / or Missouri - this is a book for you!
