20pcs M3 x 6mm Threaded Repair Insert Stainless Steel Thread Insert Nuts for Helical Repair

These are of the highest quality available on this planet, and probably a few other planets as well. I have been using threaded inserts for decades, and these are the best I've used so far. I can see no way for them to get any better than these. The smooth face of the insert once installed, is the biggest plus. SO many other Brands put a drive-notch there, which ends up being a/the weak spot. These, are bullet proof. I only have two complaints. Neither of which have to do with product quality, but with overall size availability, and the lack of some specification in other listing(s). Right now, there are only two sizes (metric) that I can find on Amazon, without having to purchase an entire assortment kit. I have bought a kit as well, but my M6-1.0 got used up real quick, and now I have no way to replace them, unless I buy an entire kit again. Which of course is not idea, because I will end up with hundreds of pieces that I will never use.I am happy that I can easily get more M8-1.25, whenever I want. Which is my most frequent metric size used. As far as lacking listing specifications. I do not often see the thread pitch listed for the outside of the insert. This listing Seller/Brand did have that information listed, so I rewarded them with my purchase. These are made to self-thread, but often in situations that I use them in. Going in with a threaded Tap first, part way. Sure does make things go so much more smoothly.I Love these things! Now, let's get some Sellers to list some batches of M6-1.0 inserts : - )

Luckily enough, these were the exact product I needed. I used them to repair some threaded holes on a 3D printer. Rigidity was extremely important, and these worked great! Comparing these to the other options on Amazon yields an easy win. E-Z LOK sells carbon steel versions for 10 for $10, and for stainless, 5 for $10 (both have a slightly larger outer diameter). Considering that these are 20 for $10, they really can't be beat. Despite these being advertised as self-tapping, I originally planned to tap the holes myself and purchased an M5 drill & tap. However, apparently the threading is not the standard M5 x 0.8, (it's probably M5 x 0.5) so I had bought the wrong size tap. However, they installed fine anyways, and I secured them in place with a drop of threadlock. Overall, best deal on Amazon.

I maintain a small fleet of chainsaws and brushcutters and have often used a helicoil to renew sloppy threads in the alloy casings of these machines.These ingenious self-tapping fittings use the bolt/screw as the mandrel (in this case an M4 hex bolt) to tap into the pre-drilled hole. Once bedded, the job is finished and you don't have to mess around with inserting tangs etc..I didn't give it five stars because once started, you can't easily 'back out' of the hole, and also there are zero printed instructions included. Overall though, a very handy device for light alloy repairs, and as you can see from the photos the finished product is very good.
