Impressed
Wow, this thing is awesome, Bluetooth is nice, it works with iphone. The USB ports will not work with my iPhone, says not compatible, I guess it take a thumb drive or android product. It will not even charge my iphone. But it has a auxiliary 3.5mm port on the front witch is nice also. These speakers will hit hard when you turn the giga button on. Overall very pleased. Packaging was good, was delivered on 18 wheeler, they called ahead to make sure I was home to sign for it.

For a certain people; I am one of them.
At some point i had decided that I'd simply like to upgrade my sound system, really just for listening. I would be making the trip from my 8 year old RCA 400W TOTAL output simple 3 piece bookshelf system, to this. After researching the different available pre made "plug n play" style systems by major manufacturers, i decided the MX-FS 8000 was my best bet regarding price. I purchased my unit refurbished through deal-stop for $550, as many others have stated, i would NEVER pay the full new price for this system. I do however very much enjoy it. For the price i paid i believe it to be a great deal considering competitors' prices! The sound quality is nothing i would ever call superb, but it certainly gets the job done! ONLY if you're an audiophile who can't stand anything but the best will these make you cringe. The bass is muddy with the built in "GIGA beat" button, which overrides other EQ's, and the mids and highs aren't crisp. However, they do get LOUD. My whole house is rattling when I play them close to max volume from the basement! The sound quality does NOT distort at all when the volume is blasted, which is really the turning point that sets these apart from loud bookshelf systems. I was able to get rid of the muddy bass and fix the mids and highs to a great extent with the use of a manual 12 band EQ (not the presets, those are pretty much worthless) the only downside to this is to achieve the loudness most would probably desire for a house party, you need to pretty much max out the volume, but, it does achieve that desired volume! The last complaint i have about sound quality is that it really doesn't hit the really low bass notes that i wish it could. I didn't test it so much as to gather a specific frequency that it begins to cut out at, but the song i first tested, if you care to hear the note it cannot hit, is the sublayer bass note in "In My Blood" by "Kai Wachi". I didn't expect them to hit them perfectly for this price, if you want something that can achieve great quality at all desired volumes, be prepared to spend so much more. The lights and aesthetics, I find to be awesome! the way the LED's reflect is unique and cool! For those who complain to the clear marketing towards youths, they can EASILY be turned off. The receiver is covered in cheap plastic, and they are quite large! Quite honestly the size doesn't bother me at all, in fact i enjoy how huge they are, as they have a presence. As my overall verdict, if you're looking for pristine sound and build quality, good god, don't buy these. Something more practical, with better sound is out there, and though it will cost more, the exaggeration of these qualities are bountiful in these speakers. But, if you love to throw practicality out the window, love huge speakers that get LOUD and want to throw parties, these are great, and really are a blast! I'm very happy with my purchase!

Thundercats, ho!
Watts watts watts.I'll begin by saying that the power consumption of the unit is not related DIRECTLY to the amount of power driving the speakers. So just because the book says it pulls 137 watts don't mean much. Then a reviewer compares this to a 12 volt car head unit and tries to draw some conclusions which end up being inaccurate and useless.I saw this unit today in a rent to own store and thought it was pretty hideously bad. Looks cool. Is stupid big. Sounds terrible. You'd be much much better off buying some pro DJ gear at the same price. It'd be louder, would sound better, and the reliability/toughness would be off the charts vs this monstrosity.Buy this if you've got more money than brains. And if you like Christmas lights. Huge piece if turd. HUGE. It will be the biggest box of turd anyone ever saw on your porch.

For kids to drive their parents insane.
I was in Costco earlier this week, and saw this behemoth for the first time. I have to say I was intrigued and eager to listen to what this sounded like; although I was already pretty sure this was just a toy and there was no way that the 2300 wattage proclamation was true. First, the speakers are huge and pretty cool, almost menacing looking. The main unit's design is pretty cool too. With a couple of Costco employees glaring at me, I turned it on. It lights up. There are pale red's, greens and blues. (they probably look better in the dark) Then came the demo. The speakers light-show dances to the beat. Yeech. Instantly, 'cool' becomes juvenile. If there's an option to kill the lights completely, do it and this will look better. And then came the sound. which is very unimpressive; bassy .... thumpy and no depth ... and no more impressive than your average plasticky giant boom-box. For over a grand, you should get better sound than this. Your 12 year old might like this (until it dies) and his friends might be envious, but serious music-phobes should stay a mile away. Having said that, it might be a cool addition to less discriminating man-caves. Not mine however.

just informing the uneducated
Stereo speakers don't run straight off 120 volts from the wall. otherwise your car speakers would not work. they use filtered electricity what goes through a complicated process. but a new car battery works at 12 volts (actually more a little...). you wall socket works at 120 (110+) volts... so if you just that simplify it stupidly, you would have at LEAST 10 times the power coming in from the wall at your head unit. That's before we ever get into amplification, capacitors , etc. Please learn your stuff before you go making accusations about things you don't fully understand.
