Good brush for watercolor - very pleased
Great brush. Good buy. Not sure what all of the negative reviews are about!! or how people abuse their brushes, but I found this brush to be great. I’m creating nice large wet washes, smooth blends, great texture and dry brush effects. Some bristle loss nothing major (maybe one or two fallout during my entire painting session). No more Loss than any other WN or Princeton or king art gold brush. For the price this brush performs great. Maybe if you buy a $52 brush it may work better. But if you’re looking for something that won’t break the bank Its a good option. I’m using for watercolor.I also take care with my brushes and wash gently and dry after each session. **Also lay FLAT To dry people!**** Otherwise water will creep down Into the glue of the ferrule and ruin brush! All in all very pleased.

For the price you won’t find a better hake brush
I’ve been painting watercolors for over 25 years this is one of my favorite brushesI had one for about 15 years and decided to retire it and get a new one. A great brush for the price. I use it for big smooth even washesI pronounce hake like “hockey” of heard others say “Hakey” -I think it’s supposed to be just hake like it rhymes with “rake” - call it whatever you like - just use it

I didn't think I'd like it; it's a favorite brush now
I didn't paint a lot of large area watercolour washes, but the hake was recommended, and cheap, and now I find myself using it for fun, and with my best paints. The bristles are soft and easy to control, clean, and dry (flat!). I have a few wide flats that I had struggled with (losing a bristle at the worst possible time), and I know how to clean and dry my brushes, but I'd changed painting techniques just to avoid getting a brush hair in my painting. This is my go to, even on smaller sized paintings. It's excellent at lifting wet paint, as well; those bristles are great!

Great Brush at a great price!
I am not an artist by any means, but I do know when a product is good, bad or indifferent. Saying that, this brush is exceptional. The protective coating on the bristles came off quite easily. The brush comes with a very nice cap that will keep the tip in good shape. It hold a lot of water and pigment, but rinses out nicely. All in all a great brush at a very affordable price.

Rather more stiff than expected
First impressions, not as soft as I expected a hake brush to be, maybe because of the short length. Also, doesn't come to a sharp edge when wet and run through fingers, as I see it done in tutorials. I'm new to using this brush, haven't used it yet, other than getting it wet. Will update review after using it a while.

I don't know how to rate these.
Ok, so these are interesting brushes. I hate them, but at the same time I don't know what the best way to use them is. I only do loose watercolor painting, and they are not great for that. The bristles are weirdly long and they fall out easily. The handles are fat and hard to manage. I'm giving them 3 stars because they're pretty cool to look at. I just don't ever want to paint anything with them ever again.

Brushes are not same quality as paint
I thought Winsor &Newton was a good name so I bought what I thought was a great item. But the first time I go to use it and it sheds all over my painting. I used water to mop my Arches paper. And I get hair all over it. I'm kinda upset.

I love this brush
I love this brush. Yes, it does smell like a wet goat the first few times you use it, but that does get better. Plus, goats are adorable, so I don't mind. I am taking water color classes, and this is one of the mops that the instructor recommended. I find this brush perfect for washes and wet-in-wet techniques. Holds lots of water, easy to control. A+!

Hake Brush
I really enjoy this brush for landscape paintings. Before using it I run my fingers through and usually a couple of the soft bristles come out and better to do it ahead of time them have them on your work. Once in awhile I will still get the odd bristle on my work though but easily removed

already losing hairs
I am very careful with my brushes but this brush, which I've only used half a dozen times is losing hair.
