Odyssey LTP2 Tripod Stand with T-Bar

I direct elementary theater, but unfortunately our stage (raised 3 feet off the ground) wasn't built with any lights, and the ceiling is too tall to reach. The height of this stand was the biggest selling point for me. I needed something easy to set up, tall enough to shine DOWN onto the stage, and sturdy enough to use around kids. This fit the bill. I set it up in the front corners, just off the stage. Since my stage is 3ft high, that still gives me 9 feet above my tiny stage to shine lights. I hang LEDs from it without any problems, as they are pretty light-weight. My middle school students don't have any trouble setting it up, so I count it as a win!

I use these both as a T-bar, but also can take off the top bar and use a pair of these to fly my light duty triangle truss without an issue at all. These are heavier duty than the ones offered by the company that makes the truss. The finish is excellent and the knobs are large and easy to grasp. Safety pins to make sure what goes up, stays up. Portable stands really don't get heavier duty than this, really... unless they really aren't portable at all. What really stood out about these is that they go higher than the others I looked at. If I'm flying my truss, I need it to go higher and with GREAT stability. It's not really a lot of weight since it's all LED and lasers- less weight between a pair of these stands than mounting legacy par cans on the t-bars. Super stable and high enough to get the projection I want. I will mention that the first one had a problem that they couldn't have anticipated while shipping, but they responded as fast as anyone could ever expect and made it MORE than right. Super support! My oldest Odyssey stand is getting pretty old and still going strong- and I'm expecting these new ones to last just as long.

Very sturdy and well built. I have this unit holding an ADJ MicroGalaxian2 and a smoke machine. It would easily hold a couple more devices. Even with the weight 8’ high the stability is solid.

Seems built well enough but T-bar only had 2 of the 4 mounting holes (both on same side). Still functional with separate brackets or by measuring and drilling new holes to maintain symmetry.

Super huge and heavy. Doesn’t collapse down short enough to fit in a standard 50” long stand bag. Well made but the area that you tighten to hold the top bar on is made of plastic. This is the weak point for this product. If the top tightening piece had been metal, this stand would be worth the money. With the plastic piece to tighten the top bar? Not so sure it’s worth it to be honest. If you have a big heavy lighting rig like a Chauvet GigBar Flex or GigBar Move, then you would get your use out of this stand because it will raise up to twelve feet. Otherwise, just put your big light bar on a speaker stand and save your money.

The product itself is great. It was very easy to put par lighting on and raise it to the required height (Plan your power supply requirements accordingly). It was sturdy (correct weight: about 22 lbs) and all the materials seemed to be made of good quality. However, they are a bit pricey! I ordered two of these and one was delivered correctly, but the other was a used stand with many missing parts and so this caused a lot of trouble! Best bet is to get these well beforehand and ensure that all parts are present!

Very pleased with the quality of this tripod. Very stable, smooth up and down motion, thick plastic knobs. Just what I was hoping for. Not sure it quite goes to 12 ft, though. Looks more like 10 or maybe 11 to me. (without measuring) Still, plenty high for me. There's even a safety pin attached that you can use if you want...like if you're using really heavy lights. It comes mostly together and takes about 10 minutes to finish it and learning what each knob tightens.

Didn't work for me. Too light duty.
