the best pen overall i own. i have a surefire, tuffwriter, benchmade, elite, and some others. they all have good points some exceeding this one. and it has to be said that i prefer screw on caps, to me the snap on caps are the weak link, they can and will fail in their o ring.(in my opininion only)so overall i like this one the most. it is very well made, the black finish is not as nice as the surefire but the silver rings make a nice change from the usual tactical pen and provide a nice surface for grip. it is very well thought out, not only as a weapon, but as a writing intrument. i write all day for a living so i like how it fits in my hand nicely, it has to be a good writing pen for me to use it. as a weapon the two ends incorporate a design that is different from what i have seen before. very effective and very well thought out. not a copycat pen. designed to be strong and to hurt but looks innocuous. an original. kudos to the designer.i will probably never use this pen as a weapon, but it would be the right tool if i had to use it. i can use it in the business setting and it looks nice, not like a weapon as alot do. this pen is great quality, looks good, is great for writing and will last a lifetime. solid nothing flimsy like many other pens (others often are great except for one glaring poorly thought out aspect) for me it is the best overall for my criteria. the others are nice or very nice in other ways, but dont make my cut. you may feel differently. i highly reccomend this pen.

I like how tame / refined it looks, and I also like the way the cap threads. It offers good grip, and while I've yet to fend off any criminals, terrorists, or bears with it, it seems to be a capable tool.My few issues with the pen are that it is quite heavy (maybe this was intended?) and the screws holding the clip are far too dainty. Maybe this was a result of keeping them small... but it makes removing the clip quite difficult. I wear the pen in a pocket and occasionally need to 'tweak' the clip back, so this is an unwelcome shortcoming.Overall, great pen, oh, almost forgot... it writes well too.

This pen writes very well, but it is too bulky-looking and heavy to "hide in plain sight." If you are looking for an every-day-carry tactical pen that does not look like a tactical pen, there are better options. I carry a Schrade instead of this one.

Had I any idea how large and unwieldy this pen was, there would have been 0% change of me purchasing it. WAY to large for EDC in a shirt pocket or horizontally clipped to your shirt and I am not a small guy (6'2" 210lbs). Not suitable for use in a uniform pocket. I totally regret purchasing this. No refinement here.I recently purchased their new Columbia River Knife and Tool TPENWK Williams Tactical Pen and plan on purchases additional units for my briefcase, EDC, patrol bag/backpack, etc. They got it right with this new pen.

Only gets two stars because it uses the smooth writing Fischer ink cartridge. The machining of the pen is rough the cap is heavy and unbalanced. I thought I lost my beautiful Benchmade pen but found it clipped to a pair of jeans that went through the washer. I promptly returned this crude instrument.

If you think it looks awesome in the images, wait until you see it in your hand. Weight is perfect and lighter than expected, it's no problem writing with for even extended periods. Writes unusually well with the stock Fisher refill. I use a decent fountain pen at home and really want consistent, smooth performance - this is a very good pen. Parker 30525PP gel refills fit perfectly and work well too.The cap is my only minor dislike - takes a bit longer to unscrew than I'd like but in fact once you practice you can quickly release it with two complete rotations. One would be perfect. Getting the cap off isn't a deal breaker and under stress/adrenaline it's down to you and your amygdala but it's still quite capable capped.You still have the ability to rake, thrust and strike soft tissue or points with the cap on. You'd lose the sharper point of the pen tip refill.This definitely has become my preferred tactical pen. Beautiful design and more subdued appearance for a tactical pen means as EDC it won't attract too much unwanted attention (especially the solid black or olive drab) or freak authorities out. I'm already ordering more to be sure I have them for future use.

Very well made. Like the weight. Feel comfortable in your hand. Thought/hoped the finish would be a tougher. After a few weeks next to my CRKT pocket knife the pens finish is scratched and faded. Still stylish enough that ive taken it through numerous airport security check points with no questions.

I've had this product for going on a year.The reason I bought my first tactical pen (pen-thieves at work) holds true here as well - most people in an office or professional setting will pick this thing up and put it right back down. It is heavy and uncomfortable to hold if you aren't used to it. That said, it still looks appropriate in an office setting and is actually quite comfortable to write with.I've also used it for such interesting things as holding doors open, crushing pills for my pets, and writing.While CRKT markets this pen as having a "lethal force" option by using the writing end to penetrate a human body I don't distinctly see how this is any more lethal than the average pen. Anything you could use a 6" piece of metal for for self-defense you can probably use this for just as well. As far as self-defense tools go I just don't agree that pens are a real option or even acceptable back-up. If you think they are then I'm sure this pen will meet or exceed your expectations.If you just want a unique pen for a professional setting that won't be missing every time you turn around, this is your pen.As far as ink goes the pen uses standard sized refills with no problem. If you don't like the one it comes with buy a new one. I end up switching brands and colors about every 2-3 months for a set of 2.

Well made pen.Pros: Sturdy well put together Can blend into a professional environment. Writes well with a quality ink cartridge. Can be used as a last ditch self defense item due to solid aluminum construction( just aim for soft areas)Cons:Definitely a large thick pen so if you have small hands be prepared.

Una penna tattica di ottima fattura, la uso da vari mesi. Scrive molto bene in ogni condizione in cui l'ho provata. L'alluminio è resistente: ho colpito diversi materiali per saggiarne la durezza, ma attenzione a non far cadere la penna su pavimenti di marmo o mattonelle, il pavimento potrebbe scheggiarsi e la penna ammaccarsi. In generale i difetti sono 2: se tenuta nella tasca dei pantaloni il tappo tende a svitarsi, e la clip dopo qualche mese si è allentata. Senza il cacciavite giusto è impossibile sistemarla, e comunque bisogna fare molta attenzione a non spanare le viti.Come penna funziona egregiamente, come strumento di difesa fortunatamente non ho avuto necessità di usarla, ma la solidità del metallo promette di essere in grado di lasciare il segno. Una perfetta alternativa "legale" al portare con sé un coltello. Per i difetti sopra elencati do una stella in meno, ma la qualità generale del prodotto è indubbiamente valida.

Pen is mightier than the sword??? Not quite, but better than nothing. Plus the space pen insert is rather useful.

This is the second and third Tao pen I have purchased. They write very well and I really like the weight of them in my hand. They look great and are incredibly functional. Everything said about these pens in the review is accurate.
