Sheds: The Do-It-Yourself Guide for Backyard Builders Paperback – January 11, 2007 by David Stiles
I purchased this book, Sheds: The Do-It-Yourself Guide for Backyard Builders Paperback – January 11, 2007, from Amazon and used for $9.28, for price and shipping included, New it would be $17.01 delivered free. It is a nice book containing layouts and plans of several sheds with pictures and drawings to add some useful planning to the basic designs. Any shed can be modified and this book offers up some suggestions for a few. I like it well enough for four stars.

Great book
In 1994 I built this (Wood Cord) Irish garden shed. I had lots of fun building itby myself. I did change the plan to fit my needs. I made it taller and put thedoor on the South end. Made a smaller, narrower, window than the plancalled for. Our city was taking up all the old brick from one of our streets anddumped them in a vacant lot. Free to those who wanted them. The floor ismade with the bricks I gathered up, it took 440 which also gave me a walkway to my garden. I had many comments while building my garden shed, all positive. It is a great addition to my yard. I always get positive comments.Looking back, if I'd had more room I would have made it larger;-) Larger is alwaysbetter:-)

Fantastic Shed Book
I have a small city lot and was looking for a shed book to guide me. I now have great shed that I built with a cedar exterior. The shed is now a great escape. I keep my outdoor gear, do projects and have a good microbrew in the shed. I even drafted out a simple plan and had my city building department approve it from one of the plans in the book. My neighbors and friends love the shed and I enjoy doing improvements to the shed. No matter if you want simple storage or something more this book is a great guide.

Good book for building ideas
I bought this book for ideas and tips. It is a handy book that I used several times for information in helping decide how I want my shed to look. Getting a kit from the local supply yard would be quick and easy but also plain and boring. This provides an option to get away from plain and boring

Great book on sheds!
Gives you more than a general idea of how to build a shed. I purchased to gain a better understanding of shed construction so that I could build an 8' x 6' garden style shed. I used this book to guide me through the process. I found it informative, well written and logical (easy to understand for a lay person). It includes illustrations and photos of many different styles of sheds. It will remain in my library until we retire to Maine where I plan to construct a small boat shed, firewood shed and garden tool shed. Highly recommended.

Very Detailed
I am building a new shed. Haven't do so in over 20 years, so I wanted to see what kind of ideas I could find. Very detailed drawings, and lots of pictures of finished projects. I plan to incorporate some elements from this book and the Truini "Building a Shed" book, making a unique product.

Interesting shed ideas
I found this book full of good ideas. I am not very talented when it comes to measuring once and cutting twice.... So get the book use it for ideas THEN have someone else build the shed for you. When you have finished with the book donate it to your local library!

Great ideas for shed building.
This is a really good book. Lots of ideas for shed designs, together with sound structural suggestions. The only thing that you should be aware is that this publication is Canadian in origin. For this reason the 'Backyard' in the title should not be taken to refer to your typical modest British backyard. However, with examples from small log stores to pavilions and boat sheds, there is inspiration here for almost any size of project.

they drawings are more like sketches and difficult to read
I wanted a book with clear instructions and guidance to build a lean to shed.Whilst I think this book is ok, they drawings are more like sketches and difficult to read. It doesnt really give you tips and clear guidance sadly.I flicked through it in an hour and probably wont go back to it now.
