Can anyone advise how long the batteries last?

Mine is still going after several months continuous night-time use

Do these power up straight away or is there an in-line switch that needs operating? i want to use them on a timer. thanks, dave.

They are instant power, but you could use a smart plug with a timer on it. For example TECKIN Smart Plug 4 Pack, 13A Smart Home Work with Alexa Echo & Google Home, Alexa Plugs with Timing Function and Remote Control, No Hub Required, 2.4Ghz Only https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07D7BH6N8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_ncxQFbD5CSDFP You then set timers through an app on your phone
