Star Wars: Edge of the Empire - Game Master's Kit

The Star Wars RPG is a lot of fun. It's a shame the books are so hard to get now. But for the price I paid, this was a great, affordable introduction to the game.

So, Star Wars Edge of the Empire is a new game. It's also pretty different than most tabletops. That makes the charts and information on the GM screen super useful.My group has been playing with the beta book for a few months and that poor thing is literally falling apart because we're constantly looking stuff up. (Don't worry, the actual Core Rulebook seems much sturdier.) The inside of the screen has panels for pretty much everything you'd have to reference often: advantage/Threat suggestions, interpreting dice rolls, weapon stats and keywords, critical injuries for both PCs and vehicles. It's solid stuff.The screen itself is fairly stocky. More importantly, though, its taller than most screens I've seen and each panel isn't as wide, meaning it takes up less room on the table. That's great because EotE isn't really a game where you need to hide a whole lot from the group.The mini-campaign thats included isn't bad either. My game is pretty deep in its own story, but its always nice to have prefab stories to fall back on.Also, maybe not quite as important, but man the art looks awesome.Definitely worth the purchase if you know you'll be playing for an extended period of time. If you're just checking out the game, I'd recommend playing the Beginner's Game first to see how you like it.

I love this game! The dice dynamic really helps aid the GM in story telling. The rules are more intuitive than other RPG's I've played. I recommend you have at least 2 sets of dice to have enough, but these aren't personalized like a standard d20 set, so a pool of 3-4 sets total that can be shared by the group works great.The GM screen is typical for a GM screen, packed with detail. The pictures are beautiful and the size is big enough to go around an open copy of the core rule book, or other adventure module book, with a bit of room to spare.The adventure that is included is fun and can be a great follow up to the adventure from the beginner box, or a great prequel to the beginner box adventure, however you want to work it.And, frankly, it doesn't sound quite as nerdy for a 36 year old to be playing a Star Wars game as it does to be playing D&D! Especially with the current Star Wars craze with the new movie!

I got this because I think the art in this game is gorgeous, and the screen does not disappoint.But the real value to me is having a full adventure. While I love writing adventures and being creative as a GM, it takes hours to do that, so if I can, I like to keep a few ready-made adventures on standby.For those who don't think the screen itself is quite worth the money, don't forget the opportunity cost of having to find the time to put together that full adventure for that one game session you just aren't going to have time to fully prepare for. If you prep 3 hours writing up the outline of your adventure, suddenly this looks like a really awesome deal -- and a lot more time went into preparing for this particular adventure than 3 hours.

The Screen that comes with the kit is made from a very solid material, and is pretty efficient at organizing charts and tables that are often referenced but hard to memorize. I have not yet run the adventure yet, but it looks like it has some interesting situations, and ideas in the module. No complaints on what it did include.My only critique would be the lack of text about being a good GM in this particular system. The main book has a lot of information, and a few general pointers that apply no matter the system. I was hoping this kit might have some tips and information on running this particular system more effectively for those not as familiar with it, but who have experience GM'ing.

I don't know why my expectations were so low on this product. Frankly, I've been playing RPGs since I was 14 which would be the summer of 1979. Back then RPGs products were crap. I recently decided it would be fun to play some of these games again so I picked up this because I really liked the theme of it and the videos FFG did really won me over. Overall this screen is well made (boardgame quality construction for the screen) and the content of information on it is perfect for anyone not familiar with the conventions of this game which will be about 90% of their customers since so much of it appears to be new.If you have an android device or iOS get the FFG dice roller as well. Great Game Aid - it actually has all the charts I would normally need in game play, except for the trees, of course, but that would take 50 more pages, and my table's not that big - not even my basement is that big! I must admit I have yet to play the included adventure, but, based solely on the quality of the adventures FFG's produced to date, even the free adventures available on their site, I have not doubt it will be excellent.If you are looking for a relaxing near-future adventure to read after a harrowing space opera game, I recommend the cyberpunk novel Trickster's Thunder  Trickster's Thunder (Trickster Chronicles Book 1) . Enjoy!

Awesome artwork (coolest of the three GM's kit released), useful and well organized information, and a really interesting adventure that comes with it. Makes me wonder if I'd put the other two on my wish list.

Shipping was really quick, probably the fastest I've ever received a shipment.The cover looks great, and has a lot of really useful on it, perfect for GMs.Have yet to try out the adventure, I plan on doing that soon.All in all, a fantastic purchase, I do not regret it one bit.

This is my first Fantasy Flight game and I'm so excited to GM for my friends as we start to play. This product arrived super quickly and in beautiful condition and I am extremely happy with it.

Nice gm screen, solid doesnt look fragile. Havent looked at the adventure yet. Not much else to say about it.

Well built, never saw a GM screen at this level of quality
