The 0.7mm tip writes decently for a ballpoint. The click is satisfying. I've only had a few pens with a side release, such as the Mitsubishi Boxy. It's actually a lot of fun. (BTW, these feel cheaper and lack the unique ergonomic feel of the Boxy but they cost less and write more smoothly.) These pens are pretty minimalist but that's okay. It's part of the charm and they work well for what they are.
