Epiphany: True Stories of Sudden Insight to Inspire, Encourage and Transform, Expanded Edition

Very Inspiring
At a time when the news media are filled with stories of atrocities foreign and domestic----it's a relief to open a book like this, which offers true stories of hope and healing achieved through introspection, insight, and prayer. Elise Ballard covered a wide swathe of humanity in her exhaustive interviews, ranging from record executives, housewives, rabbis, and African statesmen (Desmond Tutu!) to Evangelical Christian magicians, handicapped athletes, "alternative" health gurus (Dr. Oz), and parents who have lost children to violence or unspeakable illnesses. In each case, she turned up pivotal moments in these people's lives, where they confronted the temptation to become despondent or sink deeper into destructive habits--and found a better way. She even offers a series of steps the reader can take to open herself or himself to have one's own "epiphanies," and become more perceptive to life's little clues on how to become a better, happier, more generous human being. Very highly recommended!

Great throught-provoking breaktime reader
I recently completed reading "Epiphany: True stories of sudden insight to inspire, encourage and transform," by Elise Ballard. It was the perfect read to periodically (and inconsistently) pick-up during my breaks at work, considering each entry is only 3-10 pages. I loved the structure and content. Little bites of inspiration I could consume on my lunch break, featuring a quote to start, background information on the person, noting his/her relationship with the author (if any) to be followed by the account of the epiphany. These epiphanies ranged from stories of making the best of being diagnosed with an incurable disease, battling the relief of knowing paired with the added burden of facing what is wrong, to the story of making a life-altering move where everything that matters fell together: work and love.

Good concept and well presented
Good concept and well presented. Each story had a good tale to tell of individuals experiencing a life changing moment and their 'epiphany'. The set up and background of the individual as well as how the interview came about was a plus and guides the reader through the journey. Well done...I recommend and look forward to the next edition of 'epiphanies'.

Inspired me!
This quick read packs a very big punch. It is page-after-page of truly inspiring stories about ordinary people and world-stage type people (like Desmond Tutu, Maya Angelou, Dr. Oz, Clive Davis, the Craig's List guy, people that started non-profits to help disfigured children and Afghan women, etc). They are all interviewed and they talk about those moments when suddenly everything changed for them and they started to see things from a completely new perspective that shaped the rest of their lives. These are warm, engaging, very personal stories. Sometimes tragic. Sometimes unexpectedly uplifting. I felt like I was in the room when a private conversation was taking place. That's the magic of this book. Loved it.

Transformational and Inspiring
The book epiphany is one to keep by your bedside - read a few stories for a daily boost. The stories are unique and diverse, yet all inspirational. True stories of the divine at work in the lives of others helps each of us reflect on how the divine is at work in our own life. I enjoyed this book so much I have purchased 10 additional copies for family and friends and am hoping for volume II. Great for book club discussions!

Inspiring
This book was introduced to me through a series of events. I was preparing as the keynote speaker for about 300 people who for the most part were frustrated in their jobs. I was so inspired by the stories in this book that I changed the focus of my talk. I have learned to not only trust my gut but to act on those feelings. Thanks to Elise Ballard's book I had a clear simple language to present stories.

Good book. Worth a shot
I like this book. I like that the interviews are short and concise and fairly to the point. It gives a window into other people’s lives which is always interesting. And hope for those that maybe haven’t found their niche. It’s a nice quick read that you can put down when your busy and come back to, and not have to reread the last few pages to remember where you were.

Book Is Ok
My shopping experience was great. The book arrived fast and in good shape. No complaints there. The book itself just wasn't as interesting as I'd hoped. There are a few good stories to pass the time. But that's it really, for me.
