Why the prohibition of Li batteries?

Lithium-ion batteries of the same nominal size and voltage will work, i.e. make the motor rotate. The problem is that lithium-ion batteries have a very slightly less voltage. This is not of great importance on many battery-powered products, but on a power tool of marginal power even with alkaline batteries, any slight diminution of voltage takes a battery powered tool into the uselessness. I have this tool, as of yesterday, and find it too underpowered for my light usage with even brand new Energizer batteries to replace the Chinese-name brand original batteries. The problem is tool design, not the batteries.

Can you get magnetic fastening bits to fit this

Accepts standard 1/4" hex shank bits.

How do I get the cover open? I have tried all the solutions suggested by others and have failed.
