Bemis Steadfast 3" Raised Toilet Seat with Open-Front, Hinges that Never Loosen, Elongated

This was a replacement raised seat The previous sest shifted and could not get to tighten up to prevent movement with use. Also 5 years old.Sizing instructions simple to follow prevented need to return. Installed easily and hasn't budged since! Looks great, color / shape perfect fit. Material (plastic) is very sturdy and anticipate bring very durable in the long term. Great that manufactured with Occupational Therapist input—-they know what would work best!

What a satisfying and successful purchase! I'm recovering from injuries in my knees. The toilet in the home I rent is way too low for my knees. This toilet is anchored in the wall, not the floor, so my options for risers is limited. I did have to hire a handyman to installed this riser which was an added expense. I could not do it myself and this proved to be the right thing for me to do. The comfort and safety that I'm experiencing now, makes it worth the investment. I'm so pleased and relieved that I 'had' to write this review! Yes, this riser is just that good! Its sturdy, holds my weight without wiggling, provides a high degree of comfort when sitting, and is very well made, better than what was described online. Yes, it's pricey compared to other models I shopped. But 3inches is the right formulas. One thing I wish was different is the lid needs to be held while closing or it will slam shut, which is better than one that crashes shut. But I do wish it slowly closed on its own. This does not change my 5 star review.

Recently I bought an Essential Medical brand of toilet seat riser after knee surgery. The idea was to raise the height of the standard toilet to ease the angle the knee has to bend during recovery. That riser was a disaster and I had to remove it and replace it with something better for the holidays where we would have company using the bathroom. This Bemis product is awesome! The old unit permanently raised the height but allowed splashes to get between the riser and the original toilet. After drilling out the rusted bolts on that unit I was appalled at the amount of soil between the riser and the toilet. After cleaning, I installed this Bemis riser. What a simple task. The bolts are held in place with nylon nuts (no worries about rust) and the proper torque is guaranteed by the break away nut extension and the deep nut driver that Bemis provides. The pivot is at the top of the riser so the entire unit can be lifted to clean the bowl in the proper way. No more soil buildup! Such a simple and easy-to-assemble system. Total assembly time (after removing the old riser) was about 10 minutes. It looks nice and works well and I know that when it is time to remove it, I won't have to drill out the bolts. Excellent product!

Compared to the first seat riser I used this one's solid gold. Very well made. Easy to install. I specially liked the included wrench because ti fits all the other seats in the house (Yes, I checked). Sturdy when installed with no perceptible sideways slip. Didn't need the side rails because our house is equipped with wall mounted handrails. Recommended.

A comfortable, sturdy, high quality seat with one significant flaw.THE GOOD: installation was easy and straightforward. Construction is super sturdy and quality of the seat and hinge is top notch. The seat flares in the middle for added comfort. Once installed, it feels very stable.THE FLAW: As some other reviewers have noted, despite a careful and tight installation, there is about a 3/16" gap between the rear supports and the actual toilet bowl (see photo #2). This results in unnecessary stress on the hinge, the front supports, and the seat itself, likely resulting in a shorter lifespan for the product.A PARTIAL FIX: I was able to almost eliminate the gap by simply removing the plug-in bumpers from the front seat supports (replaced with a thin layer of Shoe Goo). This also dropped the front splash shield about 1/8", eliminating the small gap some have complained about.Again, Love this seat, but Beamis should really fix this strange design / manufacture problem.

At the time I purchased the seat, the support bars were additional / sold separately. My mother said no, she didn't want them (mainly, I think, because of the appearance). I wish that I had not listened to her. Wish I had gotten them sooner! These are excellent and very sturdy. The right tools are invaluable!Just bite the bullet, spend the money, and get this seat/handle combo. It's such good quality, nicer looking, and so much easier to clean, and not horrible for your company if they need to use it.Also, the bars are designed so that the toilet seat can still be lifted (for cleaning/standing use) and they fit nicely on each side of the tank.Additionally, should it ever be needed for any reason, when this seat is in the raised position, you can still place a traditional bedside commode over the toilet.

The riser fits well, very secure and stable, and it's an easy install even temporary. The riser has a funnel shape so even messy toilets are easy to clean up. It can be fitted with optional brace handles, but doesn't need them for most uses. The manufacturer has tried their best to fit both oval and round toilets, but measuring is essential. They offer both shapes with or without support handles.Please be aware that the riser is going to need clearance when folded back, so it fits against the toilet tank. If you have anything like a shelf or rack in front of the tank, it will not fold back properly, but can be secured in the "up" position with some care.
