An easy recommendation to anyone needing an open, accurate HR monitor
The item arrived in a nice efficient package and was easily unpacked. Adjusting the strap is very straightforward and, once suitably modified, the strap is comfortable to wear after the initial shock of the cool pads passes. I found pairing the device to both the polar apps and the QZ app I use for my spin bike very straightforward and have had no issues with the device being automatically picked up on subsequent workouts. I bought this primarily for the reliability of the monitoring and open nature of conenction (i.e. being able to easily pair it to third party apps/devices) and I'm happy this has lived up to the promise on both counts. The monitoring element is more accurate than the optical monitor I had in my Pixel watch so I'm happy that my workouts are now being more accurately tracked and heart zone based training is more easily tracked now. The Polar apps themselves seem a bit rudimentary but, as noted, you don't have to use them for anything meaningful besides adjusting device settings and applying updates. That's going to be such an infrequent activity that I'm not counting it against the device. At the sale price of ~ÂŁ60 this is an easy recommendation to anyone needing an open, accurate HR monitor.

Super accurate & comfortable, with top marks on convenience and connectivity
Having tried two Garmin HR monitors prior to this I was intrigued to try a brand I've never used for any equipment before and after using it for a couple of weeks I can say that I'm very happy. The accuracy is 10/10; comfort 10/10; connectivity 10/10 and convenience a retroactive 10/10. When comparing live to heart rate from my Garmin wrist heart rate monitor, it's more responsive and doesn't stop working if there's too much sweat. Equally, unlike previous Garmin chest straps, it requires very little water dampening at the start of the session to start working. In terms of comfort it also achieves full marks. There are little plastic/rubber dots on the back side of it meaning you don't have to pull it up every 15 minutes when you start sweating more and it doesn't feel like it's restricting breathing at all. Note that this has all been done an a turbo trainer so I can't comment on outdoor riding or running comfort and convenience. The only minor gripe (was) that it is a single unbreakable loop. I'm aware that some chest monitors - eg my first Garmin one from ~5 years ago - have a hook mechanism meaning you can put it on/ take it off while wearing bib shorts which is quite nice. I'm pleased to say however that a day after writing this review, on closer inspection there is indeed a small clip! It took me 3 weeks to find but that really puts it up a notch in my books. In terms of connectivity, it has paired seamlessly with ant+ to The Sufferfest and a Garmin Edge 520 with 0 hitches after ~10 hours of usage. I then forgot the ant+ dongle in my laptop and was pleased to find that Bluetooth worked just as well on The Sufferfest and Rouvy as Ant+ had done before - just make sure to re-connect it up again at the start of the ride so you don't do the first 5 minutes furiously trying to figure out why it's not working! I can't recommend enough to all cyclists looking to take the fist step into upgrading their ride analysis or those who wish to invest in a more robust and accurate HR monitor.

Does what is says with high accuracy and comfort.
So the H10 is very good heart rate monitor. Works well during exercise, stretching, running, hiking and martial arts - generally fits nicely and snugly on the chest during all physical activity - that you can forget that it is on. Connection with smartphone during recording exercise - it is very well, it can loose connection if you are using other app requiring the GPS access, then you need to refresh the app (polar beat - just refresh) as other wise it will stop working due to some issues with multitasking and sharing processing at the smart phone. Alto it is work well if you use option of the recording the exercise with the H10 heart sensor and download after you finish. IT works well with watch, no problem at all, no loosing signal, very accurate. The software and app is extremely good and user friendly, providing very good analytical data, and information which you need in nice easy to read format. Compared to the Sunnto, and Garmin software - the way how the data is collected and presented was winner for me to choose the Polar chest heart rate H10. As did not have chance to test it in the water as the swimming - can not comment on that. It works well at the rain and storm weather when you are completely soaked tho :) The strap itself is good size with length regulation. Is has some silicon bumps which helps to keep it nice and comfortable in one place, so it not move around during the high activity exercises. It is very easy to change battery - which make this product last very long. Tested it connected to the watch and smartphone at the same time as it support simultaneously twin connection into the two devices at the same time!!! as well as it can work with one device, and on its own, no need to take phone with you - if you click in the app start recording with the sensor rather life recording with the app, then you can just go with the sensor and when you finish just download the information to the phone. So yes I would recommend it.

A good HR monitor that you can view in real time on your phone
So far, it does what it’s supposed to do - measure my HR. It connects to the gym equipment I use so I can see my HR at that moment and the Polar Beats app allows me to view my HR through a workout in the different training zones. 2 frustrations, I can’t allows find a pre-installed workout that matches what I’m actually doing e.g. stairmaster aka mountain climber and the app doesn’t allows sync my workout with Apple Fitness. It can be forced sometimes but you can end up with a double workout….

Polar H10 or Garmin HRM200? A Concept 2 User Review
The heart rate belt that came with my PM4-equipped Concept 2 rowing machine finally failed after some 12 years of reliable use. It was a Garmin model, so my first thought was to head over to the Concept 2 website to see if I could get a replacement. Looking at their store page, I saw they now sold the much newer Garmin HRM200. It cost quite a bit more than I expected for such a piece of equipment, but needs must, as tracking HR in my workouts is a key part of my cardio training. Seeing that the HRM200 was sold by Concept 2, with provisos—I checked my PM4's serial number and firmware to ensure compatibility with the new belt and then saved myself a few quid by ordering it from Amazon :) The belt arrived, and I could immediately see how technology and design had changed in the years since my old belt was the current model. I see now that the sensor pod or module is detachable from the belt, and the strap looks a little wider for added comfort. This may not be the review you expected, but there is a point to this comparison that may help users of the Concept 2 rower with the older PM4 monitor (a model without Bluetooth) or users of ANT+ equipped exercise equipment. Looking at the new sensor pod on the Garmin HRM200, I find a button and, according to the manual, an LED indicator light, though initial searches failed to locate it. I spent two days trying to get the Garmin picked up by my PM4. Garmin’s more involved setup required users to press the button twice to place the belt in open mode, which the PM4 requires for an ANT+ connection. The Garmin’s LED was next to useless, as it was so ridiculously tiny as to make it almost impossible to see clearly. You would lose sight of it, mistake reflection for it, etc. In short. I had difficulty getting the overly complex Garmin to work. Searching Amazon, and recalling that Concept 2 used to also sell Polar chest straps, i didn't see any listed there. I was concerned about compatibility for this reason. If Concept 2 didn't offer the Polar H10 for sale, that may suggest issues with using it with their equipment. Anyway, reading more about the H10 and deciding that, as long as the belt offered ANT+ connectivity, I'd give the H10 a go. When the belt arrived, I saw that it used the same detachable sensor pod design as the HRM200, though the Polar one was a little flatter and broader. I noted that the mounting studs located on the belt for the sensor pod to snap into had wider, circular supports around the connection posts instead of the Garmin's solitary posts that could make the Polar's connection sturdier, especially if the sensor pod is pressed or leant against. The Polar's clasp mechanism to secure the two ends of the belt, though made of plastic and a tad more complex than the Garmin’s simpler, metal open-ended clasp design, felt easier to use when you were reaching around to your right side to fasten it. Further, the Polar's belt featured small, soft rubber studs to prevent slippage on a sweaty body, which was a nice design feature. The Polar H10 uses a smaller CR2025 battery compared to Garmin’s CR2032, but an estimated 400 workouts for the Polar was quite enough expected battery life. Though at this juncture, I'd like to credit my old Garmin belt, which lasted a decade on a single battery. Best of all, the Polar H10 had no pesky buttons or LEDs. This boded well as I donned the belt, and two minutes later I was sat on my rowing machine navigating the PM4's menu to the HR connection screen. There was the new Polar H10's ID code displayed along with my current heart rate. Simple! I couldn't believe it, in around 10 seconds flat, I had the new belt picked up and working! The PM4 had detected the new belt without issue. I selected 'remember', on the PM4 and voila, it was all set up—no buttons to fiddle with or LEDs that you cannot see were required. So far, I've used this Polar H10 without any issues for two weeks now. I don the belt, and after a minute of stretching, sit on my rowing machine, and my HR is detected without any fuss or fiddling around: it just works! Perhaps my Garmin HRM200 had a fault, which accounted for me struggling with it for two days before I gave up and returned it. I had seen a review of this belt from a user with a Concept 2 rowing machine, but I suspect they were using the newer PM5-equipped machine that supports Bluetooth. Perhaps connecting the Garmin via Bluetooth is a much simpler prospect than with older ANT+ based monitors. As a side note, I didn't use either the Garmin or Polar app to configure the belts in any way prior to use, so I cannot comment on their relative merits. I don't need an app, as I don't even own a smart phone, and perhaps this is why I liked the buttonless, lightless ease of use of the Polar H10 compared with the Garmin HRM200. All I want from a heart rate belt is to put it on and have it work. pressing buttons and checking the flashing status of an LED you can barely see isn't for me. Either way, for pure simplicity, the Polar wins over its nearest rival, hands down in my book. I'm sharing my experience of both to help anyone deciding which one to purchase. Reviews often leave readers wondering which option to go for, so I hope this comparison of both belts in the same price range helps.

Perfect for heart attack recovery monitoring.
A fantastic heart rate sensor! I recently had a heart attack and was looking for something to monitor my heart during recovery and walks. Firstly I tried a Fitbit Charge 6 and was extremely disappointed at the lack of functionality with regards to a dedicated HR screen. It's just an overpriced fancy watch with some exercise stuff. So I took a peek at Polar, after a recommendation from a friend (who is in the Navy and uses these for fitness tests). They're far cheaper than a Fitbit, easy to use, have an easy to use app with GPS to track your routes and it saves all the data collected onto your phone to review as time goes on. I've used this a couple of times and it feels okay, doesn't come off while walking, is fairly comfortable and simple to put on/take off. If you're looking for a more HR and ECG based device, definitely choose this rather than a Fitbit!

Failed from the start - Too pricy for what it's worth !!
Product was never working well from the start - now (after 5 months of frustration) it just does not connect to my phone so I can't measure my hear rate when training. Particularly concerning as I am a cardiac patient and need to monitor my heart rate regularly and consistently. To ensure that I stay within a recommended rate by my cardiologist. It was working well for one week and then deteriorated. Now it is so inconsistent I can not trust the device. Polar Support was useless advised me to buy another strap @34 pounds from their website !! As it is not covered by the warranty. I have replaced the battery twice to see if that would fix it and no luck and tried all the advice from support. Considering the price of this unit i would expect higher standards and being Polar you would expect this. Unfortunately I now have to look at alternatives as this is now an expensive piece of tat in my gym bag. In summary I would not recommend anyone to purchase this product - especially if you are a heart patient recovering from surgery.

Revised review! Great HRM for resistance, CV, HIIT work.
****Review update**** I originally gave this product 3 stars - I was having mixed results with it. I assumed that this HRM was not able to maintain and record bluetooth and 5Ghz "gymlink" connections at the same time. I would switch the app on (polar or wazoo) in my gym. The PRECOR gym kit would show my HR, but when I checked the app, it showed significant drop outs. I RESOLVED this. It transpired that this was a power management issue on my phone, if I was using Spotify/Netflix at the same time, my phone was not running HR tracker apps in the background. My phone is a Huawei P30 Pro - I went to settings>Battery>App Launch and turned off "Manage Automatically" for each fitness app. Now it appears to operate flawlessly. Both for CV and resistance workout. Now - I give this 5 STARS The Polar H10 features a suite of connectivity options as follows; - ANT+ - which is a Garmin product, and I've yet to find a use for it. I own no compatible equipment. - Bluetooth - great - can support 2 devices simultaneously. - 5ghz "gymlink" - which can connect to some gym equipment eg. Precor In the Polar app you can switch each of these off - I guess this would save power. I cant comment on battery life - not used it for long enough but polar app shows it as "FULL" after 8-10 hours training. The strap is not one of the generic ones, has a plastic clip to connect it together, which I hope will hold up. The cheaper ones have a metal clip. The Polar app is more than sufficient for me - provides a number of profiles for different activities. And a good HR readout is provided at the end, and you can easily see the HR zones as you train. Ive also tried it with Strava, MapMyRun, and Wazoo. All with good results. I cant comment on water resistance - others have commented on this, but I do not swim with this on.

Value for money
Item was delivered by Ninja Van. As usual, had bad experience with them. Item was left expose outside at the doorstep and was place in safe place despite instruction. Otherwise item was well packed, original packaging was not dented nor torn. Had some issues initially when paring it with Polar Flow, then found out the Polar beat is a more compatible mobile for it. Have been using it during runs. Work well and as expected. Price fluctuates frequently and managed to bought it at a lower price as compared with other shopping platform. Trustworthy brand and highly reviewed item. Value for money.
