How The West Was Tamed
An outstanding insight into the lives of those who developed, tamed and civilized the West. Sort of a story of the good, bad and ugly, but more importantly the dedicated honest, moral hard working citizens of the territory who made it (in many cases at the expense of Native American Indians). The author also is a very good example of how to maintain control, through fairness and faith. An excellent read, and a great lesson in human nature!

Snapshots of yesterday
I really liked the book as I really like that period. He seemed like a good man that helped shape the west. A good feeling of situations and descriptive imagery without overdoing the details . An easy read about exciting times.

Great story.
I found "Line Rider" to be a superb telling of one man's life in the Arizona Territory as it transitioned from a time of Indian Wars towards statehood. The characters, families, locations and events are familiar to me due to similar stories from my own family about a generation later. Ranching, law enforcement, and interactions with the Apache and Navajo are all subjects I found interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

Western History At It's Best
I felt like I was sitting along side of Joseph Pearce listening to his wonderful tales of the years he spent as a Ranger. I did not know that Arizona had Rangers even though it was for a short period of time. The book is written using the same descriptive language that a man of Joseph Pearce's time in history and given life style would have used. Not lewd or gross but really gives the reader the feeling like they are setting around the campfire in the late 1890's. A wonderful book narrated by a very interesting man. For you western history buffs, don't miss it.

Interesting stories.
The author has some of the most interesting stories that I have ever heard of in a nonfiction book. Lovers of true life westerns will enjoy reading this book.

What a wonderful way to experience our nation’s history.
A most enjoyable journey through Joe’s life in Joe’s comfortable cadence. A wonderfully intimate look at one man’s live in this nation at the turn of the last century. This is how history should be taught.
