The Alphabet That Changed the World: How Genesis Preserves a Science of Consciousness in Geometry and Gesture

but I must say that I was disappointed in the end
In 1978, when I was 19 years old, I stumbled across a used copy of Carlos Suares' The Cipher of Genesis, which treats the letters of the Hebrew alphabet as states or structures of energy, and it blew me away. Since then, I've looked for others discussing the "letter code" in a similar vein, but never found what I was looking for... until now. Tenen's book is it. Do not approach this book if you're not in the mood to think, and think deeply. Every page demands real intellectual "chewing." In truth, I wish I could give this book 4 1/2 stars, as I don't feel it's *quite* deserving of a full five stars... but I definitely wouldn't lower it to a four. If you'd told me when I was halfway through the book that I'd consider giving it anything less than a "5," I'd say you were crazy. But at about two thirds of the the way through the book I began finding myself wanting to get through it. The content is truly mind-boggling and very imprssive, but I must say that I was disappointed in the end, as I was left with a distinct feeling of, "Is that all there is?" It felt like it should Amount To More. But I'm very glad I found this book.

my favorite book of 2015 (i read about 300+ books a year)
Of all the books I read in 2015, this is the most fascinating book I've read. It's the most well thought out book I've read. It's the most profound book I've read. Any person who is interested in the mysteries of God should read this book: Jews and Non-Jews. Tenen provides unique insights into the 4 & 5 letter names of God that I haven't even seen before. His understanding of the first verse of Genesis is the best I've ever read or heard about. It is truly unique. It's powerful. And if true, provides a new paradigm to view the entire Torah and Hebrew langue. I enjoyed the book so much that i ordered another 10 and gave them as presents in 2015.

a book to change the world
It is difficult to say in brief how important this book is, and difficult to say that it is about this or that. It continues to teach on many levels, because it is emergent from a great deal of synergistic experience, research, inspiration and exploration on the author's part, and is thus difficult to catch up with. But it is very much worth it to try to catch up, or perhaps even move on from here with one's own further explorations. I believe this will be a classic that is increasingly appreciated over time. I felt that I had to own this book. It is full of sticky notes, and I refer to it often.

Well Worth the Effort
Why are the Jews spoken of in tradition and scripture as The Chosen People? Why was such a strict warning put in place to discourage scribes and scribblers from altering even the smallest bits of the Bible? Even as individuals and societies are maturing from magical and mythic to rational and trans-rational understandings of the world, answers to these questions seem to be emerging from the background noise - where, it seems they had been hidden in plain sight. As Stan writes in his most recent news letter, (Oct. 2011), from which I have excerpted and edited a few sentences, "A functioning science of consciousness would have real implications for personal health and global healing. For example... a caring minyan, (group of ten or more persons), can maintain and correct, if necessary the health of each of the individuals. Thus, if one member is deficient in some regard - has an illness or a limitation - they would be brought up to health by immersion in the waters of the consciousness of the entirety of the Minyan. By this means it might be possible to demonstrate the actual, objective healing qualities of a properly functioning minyan/assembly. Diseases of the mind, and also diseases of gene expression, might be directly affected. This is, potentially, a real effect that can be demonstrated to be either true or not. All of this and much more, comes with the recovery of meaningful structure to the letters and the alphabet as a whole."Remembering Arthur Clark's third law of prediction which states, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." One begins to suspect that someone left us a message very much like the Arecibo project and the Golden records placed on the Voyager Satellite. Does this subtract from our notions of G-d and the Divine origin of scripture? It need not. Understanding that all things "happen" in observance of law - laws of nature which can be no more or less than Divine law - no one's belief system is diminished. Contemplative traditions are equally respected as phenomenology can be explained and or experienced at every stage of manifestation. So: 1. Why are the Jews referred to as "The Chosen People?" Maybe this "refers" to the fact that they were given the assignment of preserving the integrity of the user's manual/incubation box - not just the one for the human race but the whole world of form - the playground of consciousness! And 2.) Why must we never alter the biblical text? The answer may be that embedded in these writings is information so important and so specific a single mistake would be catastrophic. For example; Life depends upon water which must be composed of only two atoms of hydrogen and only one atom of oxygen. Very specific! Change one jot and every tittle is toast. This is a mild example of the extreme specificity of a multitude of life sustaining compounds. In my estimation, Stan Tenen's book is our latest, best chance of recovering a message known but lost then found only to be lost... and found again - a message that not only answers the big questions, but is in fact the medium wherein and whereby the whole show is preformed and reenacted, ad infinitum. Fruit containing a seed, the seed from which grows the tree which produced the fruit - information dancing in and out of form and the void. Sound familiar to you students of quantum misunderstanding and all who zing in the key of zen?Stan is too much the scientist to speculate about the range of implication embodied in his work - but my intuition is screaming! What the world needs now is clarity, resolution and access life's preservative and restorative process'sIn the beginning was the word. And then the word got written in a book. And then someone else wrote a book and the fight was on. Beyond knowledge of good and evil the world needs The Tree of Life - the source of life. A fruit tree bearing fruit which contains the seeds of another fruit tree is a picture with which readers of The Alphabet That Changed the World will become very familiar. The Alphabet That Changed the World is not light reading. In my opinion it could have been better organized in an effort to make it more accessible to a wider audience - my only reason for bestowing four instead of five stars. But these criticisms are peripheral. The information Stan's book contains is far too important to quibble over style and presentation. However difficult - just work it through. You will be well rewarded.

A must for any Mystic, Kabbalist, or Scholar of the Hebrew Alphabet!
Over the Last year and a half I have been studying the video's and web page of the Genius STAN TENEN. I now have his Book The Alphabet that Changed the World and it is one of the Highest Works of Heart Felt Thoughtfully Enlightened research upon the Alphabet that I have ever Encountered. I would say it just may be the best work upon this subject so far upon the planet. I recommend his book at any scholar or Kabbalist or even any mystic of any faith! I have dove in his book head first and cant get out!

Astonishing Hypothesis, Rigorous Evidence
This book offers up the astonishing hypothesis that the Hebrew letter text of the Torah (Septuagint) contains coded instructions regarding the fundamental nature of reality and meditations to access those fundamental truths. Initially these claims might seem outlandish, but throughout the book Stan Tenen gradually builds a powerful case based on masses of incontrovetible, rational and sensible evidence. In reading this book, many of my most fundamental assumptions were shaken through the sheer force of its logic. Without exaggerating, among the many thousands of books I have read in my life, I consider it among, if not the most important book I have come across.

Amazing re discoveries
Stan Tenen is a remarkable researcher at the level of Champollion. He rediscovered the origin of a language and proposes an explanation of the origin of language itself. He unites sound, vision, geometry, poesy with the Hebrew letters via thorough examination of its shapes.A must read for anyone interested in the Torah, Genesis, the formation of human societies and of course, language itself.

Enormous depth
I had been warned that this book was very deep and it is true. But I trust as I read it that I will understand more of what the author is offering me in the knowledge of the Hebrew language.

New World Order worshipper
I just finished a few pages and found many contradictions to my current point of view. Maybe I am a fool or his work is foolish, some examples:Everybody knows, the jewish religion appeared suddenly and has no predecessor. With the religion came the alphabet. Moses got oral instructions and the written tora. Why links Tenen the alphabet to gestures of apes and to pictograms? The hebrew alphabet is very different to egyptian pictograms although the people are related and spoke similar languages. In every culture first written letters or pictograms or art had a divine purpose. That you can learn in history of art.Everybody knows that the hebrew alphabet looked differend 3000 years ago, why Tenen develop his theories on the modern alphabet, that exists only for a few hundred years?Tenen breaks the letter alef into bet and zadi final, when hebrews break alef to jod waw jod. Why?Tenen dreams of a united world. I found that in the preface of that book. Of course we are all connected, every believer knows that. But Tenen connects this to very bad actions in positive words: It would be a good thing that a lot of nations are united today. (They are one huge market for a few people, cultures had been destroyed, genocide happens, many people suffer for the benefit of a few, ....)I know that ideas and sort of arguments from worshippers of the new world order. They take common truths and twist them and never go deep in argumentation. You will never find humbleness, they never teach things that made humankind great such as traditions. You must honor your forefathers. A tree without roots die. The old egyptians maintained their empire for 3000 year only thanks to their traditions. Jews only exist today because of rabbinic traditions. In fact NWO people are destroying the foundation of mankind.
