Typical high Knipex quality.
I have used many cheap tools throughout the years, and for many purposes they are fine. But finely crafted objects, especially tools, are things of joy that can last for generations and make life better and easier. I have a number of Knipex tools and know them to be among the best. This set of needle nose pliers is no exception. Everything is precisely made from excellent materials. The price is significantly higher than even a good set of alternative pliers; however, the quality of the Knipex is FAR superior to most of the common models, and that quality just makes them work much better and last much longer. The only thing that gave me some pause in buying these pliers was the description of them having smooth surfaces on the faces of the jaws, because that could easily cause slippage when using them. I was pleased to find that the jaws actually have finely machined, tiny ridges that will not easily mar the workpiece but will grip it well enough for the more delicate tasks these little pliers are designed to handle. Mine will be primarily devoted to small electrical work where the long, thin jaws are exactly what are needed to hold and bend components. I can see them being used for jewelry, gunsmithing, or other projects where small items and tight spaces are present. I never like to abuse my tools; however, these pliers are strong and durable if used in a reasonable manner. This shouldn't be the only set of needle nose pliers you own (Knipex makes some great heavier models), but if you do the kind of work they are designed for, you shouldn't be without them. They really are that good, as are the other Knipex tools I have. Make sure you can keep them in a safe place, because people will want to walk away with tools like this if they ever get their hands on them -- and you will feel the pain of loss when you need them and discover they're missing.

Excellent Pliers
Most Knipex pliers are excellent and these are too. The pivot is smooth and tight, and the jaw ends line up perfectly.

Great "screw went down hole" pliers. Top notch, same as the rest of them.
Great down-the-hole pliers for grabbing, or small electric work....man just they are great. I dunno how to not sound like they are paying me or something, value is off the charts, great quality....not a whole lot more money. QC reminds me of Fiskars a bit - top notch. Made in Germany, so what do you expect really. You get it.

Good size and precise
Good size and precise but not much holding power. Great for picking up or holding small items or getting in tight spaces but not for gripping tight. High quality built and excellent materials

Should have bought these first
Replacing a cr*ppy pair made by one of the random named PRC suppliers. The last pair were made from pretty soft steel and even when knew the tips were offset enough to be problematic. After a few uses the jaws bent a bit and the pliers were pretty much useless. The knipex pliers were about 2x more expensive but when they arrived immediately noticed the jaws aligned very closely and gripped small parts much better. After several uses no change even in the skinny tips so these are likely made with real tool steel instead of some cheap substitute. Bottom line with precision tools a bargain probably isn't a bargain but good quality - time is money.

Love these pliers!
I'm a huge Knipex fan in the first place, because of the overwhelming quality and durability of their tools, so I'm probably a bit biased here. As with almost all Knipex products I have owned, these pliers are of tremendous quality. The fit and finish is some of the best that money can buy, as well it should be for the premium that you pay for Knipex products. The grips, as with all Knipex pliers of this line, are wonderful. They're long lasting and simple but effective. The length on these is particularly nice. They are both very thin and very long, enabling you to get into places that most standard 6" needle nose pliers simply won't go. Because they are made of high quality tool steel, you're able to use them without fear that the thinness has compromised their integrity or made them prone to breakage. I don't know if one could say that with other brands' extra-thin pliers, even the US-made ones. If you've not yet gotten a pair of long reach, thin needle nose, I suggest picking up a pair of these to fill the gap. They may run you twice what it costs for comparable tools from other manufacturers, but the difference in quality is worth it. In a tool with tips this small and long, not paying for quality is going to catch up with you later. Buy the best the first time out and never look back in regret! One last thing -these pliers don't seem to be stocked too well, so if you like them and they're in stock, best pick them up while you have the chance. After I got mine, it said the wait was 2-5 weeks. Ouch!
