Skazki Pushkina - Сказки Пушкина (Russian Edition)

My brother lived in Russia and this was a great gift. These fairy tales are very common in Russia and Pushkin is a very famous Russian poet so it was a good gift and the illustrations were so pretty I wanted another copy for myself.

The first copy I received of this book was damaged due to poor packaging. Amazon has excellent customer service and quickly sent me another one ASAP. The second one was perfect. The book itself is nice. The book appears to be printed when you order it. The paper quality isn’t the best, but it’s ok. The illustrations’ colors are a bit muted, but overall for what you pay, it’s not bad at all.

It is a\great for family and learning traditional culture. It has all the traditional drawings as well.

I really enjoyed reading Pushkin's tales again. Apart from the most well-known tales (Skazka o tsare Saltane, Skazka o rybake i rybke, etc), I like also his "Zhenih"; it fascinated me even in childhood. And the Bilibin's illustrations are a delight to see!

It is a great book but it is written only in Russian, so for my husband, who is Russian, loves to read the stories to our baby.

I have difficulty with the way the letters are printed. I ask myself, as I struggle with the text, is this a be, a ve or a ka? I think that this is not how Russian was printed in the 19th or the 20th centuries.

I like the pictures in this book by the stage designer and painter Bilibin, who was as controversial in Tsarist Russia as Pushkin himself. He painted the props for these operas (staging Pushkin’s fairytales) for their opening nights. Worth mentioning that the Golden Cockerel (opera by Rimsky Korsakov) was actually censored and subsequently banned by the Tsar. I am not sure how useful these books are for teaching children today, but I learnt from Pushkin’s fairytales as a child with great interest. I think it really depends on teacher and student, and I would not ever underestimate the imagination and ability to learn by children, regardless how young. This book is being used by a young mother and writer, who is an opera lover and is learning Russian from her grandmother in a one language method. The grandmother is an accomplished teacher, radio and TV news reader, but does not speak any English. In summary this book is a great choice for anyone who loves Pushkin, visual art, opera and has an interest in history of Russian literature and music. Tasteful reprint, well edited, and shipped to Australia (imagine down under! 🌏) in less than two weeks at an affordable price. Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.

Ce livre n’est pas cher mais la qualité reflète le prix. Le papier est fin et rugueux et les images sont ternes. Rien à voir avec le vrai Bilibine.
