Wonderful strop, I thought when I bought it I would regret the price (especially since some on here cost like a quarter when compared to this) however I truly don't regret it. The leather is wonderful and has brought a level of sharpness to my knives I have yet to experience! The glue has held (though I admittedly haven't had it long, it feels solid so I trust it). The plexiglass is amazing! I absolutely love it and the rubber on the bottom is EXCELLENT! Once you place it down it will not move easily at all! The box it came in was plain (which to me, I don't care - however some might). It also did smell pretty bad, but this is to be expected since it is leather, glue, and rubber that had been stewing in the 100+ degree weather here. This smell was pretty much gone by the next day.To sum this up, I love this strop! It's expensive in comparison to some you can get - but just the overall quality you get is vastly better than I would get elsewhere! Would easily recommend to anyone interested in sharpening!

This is a thin, very fast (almost glossy) leather strop that does not easily accept polishing compound in brick form.It is almost like honing in a glass plate... simply no feedback.Some folks may like the very hard, thin and fast feel. I do not!The physical size is good for table/bench work, however I've used a belt for over 40 years and am used to the feel and feedback from the tension if me pulling and the pressure I apply to the knife as I pull it across the surface with long purposeful strokes.I can create a fantastic razor edge on most customer's knives in a few strokes with a real stop and quickly touch up an edge and cleanup hotspots in a minute, np... You have none of that with this strop, nor with any similar design.I will continue to experiment and hopefully find a use for it.The mfg is excellent and the materials are outstanding, its simply nothing benefitting my business. :-)

Great packaging and it would be as such as great gift! Leather is very smooth/flat with no dimples or irregularities. The amount of compound included is very generous and appears to be of good quality. I had a little difficulty in loading the strop - using mineral oil I couldn't get an even coating. It's probably my fault - too much oil but after wiping it down and letting it dry overnight - no further problems. Using it to finish the sharping of a 37 year old Chinese Cleaver brought the edge to a razor sharpness. Another great reason to use this strop is the email follow up that the sellers do.free eBooks, Tips, Suggestions, and a real desire that you're satisfied with your purchase - how many other sellers do that!! The only thing I would like to see added is a higher base, maybe 1/2' - 3/4" - I would pay for that additional height because even though there is a no slip base, if you raise the strop on a secondary platform there is the potential for wobble and movement. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and I'd recommend it to everyone!

I bought this leather strop and polishing compound to sharpen kitchen knives. I personally have several VG-10 knives and this strop with a high grit stone will make knives shaving sharp. The compound is very spreadable on the strop and easily melts under a hair dryer on high heat. The strop itself is well made and I have not had any issues with it separating from the Plexiglas base. I have sharpened 5 knives so far and it has worked well. This works best if the steel that the knife is made from is a harder steel. The VG-10 knives are around a 60 Rockwell hardness and they make use of the strop better than the German knives I tested on.

I love the packaging for 1 . It was surprising on how professional it was. I loved how organized everything was. There were detailed instructions for use. I already knew what I was doing but it would help anyone who didn't know. Shipping came on time. I recommend not using this to sharpen a knife but finish it. It does not sharpen it hones. Sharpen first then use this strop. My personal chef knife is now a razor thanks to this product. It makes cooking fun and easy. Especially if you are serving 200 people and have 50 pounds of potatoes to prep. I highly recommend purchasing this product. You won't be disappointed.

Didn't like this upon first reception but gave it a chance and usage and now I love it. The green stick is a bit fine I think but that's almost like a cosmetic feature. Worth the money to me. Since I can't afford to purchase 50 of these things to try out side by side, I have to go with the Flexcut strop I've used in the past vs. this one, I must say, this one wins.

Strop fits nicely with the thickness of diamond stones. Overall a great package for the money.Two significant drawbacks:-Strong offgassing of contact cement for 2+ days after opening-Tons of red dye in the leather sheds when attempting to load stropThe leather itself is so-so: decently firm, but not particularly uniform - this is less of an issue when loaded with compound. Overall, while you could make something similar with better leather for less money, given the effort involved this is still a good deal.

Needs tips and tricks booklet for noobs like me. I tried applying the compound, i got more of the strop on the compound than i got compound on the strop. found out in a you tube video comment, that using a hairdryer on the strop to heat it up first works. found that using a hairdryer on the compound applies it even faster. Not the strops fault, but every time i sharpen a knife then use the strop, i dull the blade. I suck at this.

Gets my knives razor sharp very quickly. Works really well. However what I dislike is that it is painted. I have no idea what this Chinese ink contains. Knives are stained red after use. I have to carefully and painstakingly remove the red residue from the edge, so it doesn't end up in my food. That is kind of annoying and prevents me from using it casually (often).

This product exceeded my expectations. The leather is smooth and thick. The base is flat and the rubber bottom helps to keep it from moving. What really stands out though is the customer service. You will get a down loadable manual how to use it and the owner will get ahold of you by email to follow up to ensure you are satisfied with your purchase. I would buy this brand again.

Excellent quality. Great size for all of my wood carving knives. I have bought 3 or 4 strops and this is a huge step up in my opinion. The best I own now.
