Automatic Watch for Men 5-7S Collection

I currently own and have previously owned several different watches of various styles and at various price points. I have affordable watches from Seiko, Citizen, and Orient, mid and lower tier Swiss watches (Hamilton, Mido), a TAG Heuer, a vintage Omega - the list goes on. This is probably my cheapest watch. I was looking for something fun and cheap; I guess you could say this one was sort of an impulse buy. What I really like about this watch is it’s simplicity and versatility. It gives a nod to the Rolex Datejust 36 with its case size and shape, as well as the handset and index markers used. The bracelet is similar to a jubilee in design, but still has its own distinct style. This is not, however, a complete ripoff of a Rolex; it has some attributes that are distinctively Seiko, like the recessed crown at 4:00 that has been typical of the Seiko 5 lineup since its inception. Furthermore, the “5” logo pattern on the dial is likely a borrowed design idea from the Grand Seiko SBGH267, which features embossed Grand Seiko branding on its blue dial; while these two watches are not anywhere in the same league, it is clear that they share the same DNA. The dial on this watch really has a lot of depth and detail, especially for the price. The “5” pattern is not visible in most lighting; it is subtle. The dial makes this look like a different watch in different lighting situations; sometimes it looks black, other times it looks like a metallic blue sunburst, sometimes the fives make it look like a linen patterned dark blue, and sometimes the fives just stand out as fives against a deep blue. Almost all of the markers and logos are applied rather than painted on; the only things painted on are the words “Automatic 21 Jewels” at 6 o’clock. The lume on this watch is surprising; I am pretty sure it is the same lume used on Seiko divers because of its color and brightness. However, it does not last nearly as long as Seiko divers because it is very conservatively applied in comparison. It will last about halfway through the night if you charge it with a flashlight before bed, which is still better than a lot of other watches with lume that only lasts for a few minutes. The bracelet is a folded link type; keep your expectations realistic here, this is a budget watch. As far as folded link bracelets go though, this one is decent and definitely serviceable. You even get a push button clasp instead of the friction lock type, and the end links fit snugly against the case with no play. It is not much of a rattler; it starts off as a bit of a squeaker, but that goes away. Expect to spend at least an hour trying to size it though; the links are very tightly folded, so if you are not determined then you may want to have a jeweler do it for you. If you do it yourself, use a cheap flathead jeweler’s screwdriver that you don’t mind breaking or dulling the blade; you will have to hammer the screwdriver into the link repeatedly until it finally gives, then use pliers to yank out the tabs; I also applied some oil to the link to help it along - it was that bad, and my fingers were sore by the time I was finished. However, you only have to size it once, and once it is done it is comfortable enough. Actually, the whole setup is very lightweight and really disappears on the wrist. It is great as a daily wearer because it does not get in the way. Accuracy out of the box was acceptable for the price. On the first day, it seemed on track to lose about ten seconds in 24 hours. Not bad, but I knew it could do better, and I prefer fast over slow. I regulated it, and it has been pretty much spot on ever since (worn daily for about a week now). If I want it to speed up a few seconds overnight, I rest it dial up on my nightstand; if I want to reel it in a few seconds, I leave it crown up on its side. Theoretically, I can get away with never resetting it this way. I have not tested the power reserve yet, but it lasts through the night without winding down enough to become erratic. These basic Seiko movements are known to be robust workhorses that can go long stretches without maintenance, and are simple enough for watchmakers to service with ease when that time does come (if you choose to do so instead of replacing the movement or the watch). Overall, this turned out to be a great buy. It is nice to have a modest, simple, lightweight, affordable daily-wearer in my collection. It can pass as both casual or dressy for those who only want one watch. I recommend this to anyone looking to get into mechanical watches, or watch enthusiasts such as myself looking for a daily beater that is versatile and comfortable. The only drawbacks are the mineral crystal (to be expected at this price though) and only 30m water resistance. There are tons of Seiko mods available, so I plan to eventually swap the crystal with sapphire. I can’t do anything about the water resistance, but 30m should be acceptable for most people’s daily lives. The bottom line is: This watch is great, and it’s cheap. If you are considering it and you like the look, you should just buy it. You won’t regret it. Five stars for price to quality ratio.

The SEIKO 5 SNK357 is a stunning watch. It fits comfortably on most wrists, though it’s worth noting that it’s slightly smaller than typical mechanical watches. The design is really striking when light hits the watch at certain angles, beautifully highlighting the Seiko 5 logo and its intricate background, as shown in the image. Do note that the day text displays in Arabic at night, which is something to keep in mind. Like most Seiko 5 models, it has the signature rattle, but it remains incredibly durable. I've been using it for a few months now, and even with regular biking, it continues to perform flawlessly. The night luminol glow is really gorgeous. The stainless steel strap is decent but not exceptional. If this is your first mechanical watch, I recommend visiting a specialized shop or jewelry store rather than attempting it yourself, as it can be quite challenging. The power reserve is modest, but as long as you wear the watch for at least 8 hours a day and maintain a relatively active lifestyle, it should function without any issues. Great watch, great price!

Good: Incredibly pretty dial, nice lume and a surprisingly nice fit and finish on the watch body above others in the price range. Accurate enough for a $100 mechanical watch and feels nicer (and the rotor is quieter) than a Miyota. Fits my need perfectly -- a dressy-looking watch where my dive watches and G-Shocks are out of place, without being stupidly expensive. Love the 4 o'clock crown. Not-so good: The bracelet is just OK -- not as good as a similarly-priced Invicta bracelet, but better than the bracelet on a similarly-priced Casio or G-Shock. Little rattly, but it fits well. The movement is the 30-year-old 7s26 that was discontinued a few years back and misses many of the popular features like hacking and hand-winding (which you don't actually need). Could have been a mm thinner if they ditched the exhibition back. It wasn't going to have a sapphire crystal, but I'd rather have a curved acrylic that I can polish out scratches instead of a flat glass. The Invicta 1953 is in this price range, has better water resistance, a better bracelet, and a newer NH35 movement. That said, the SNK357 is smaller, lighter, has a much nicer dial, has better fit and finish on the watch itself, it doesn't look like a ripoff of a Rolex, and the Seiko name doesn't get angry looks from watch snobs on Reddit or watch forums. I own both, and will keep both. These plus a Casio DW-5600 or GW-6900 make a great three-watch collection for virtually any use for around $300.

4 months old. Already losing time. Stopping in middle of night.

Although the bracelet is a bit different than other watches, this piece is a beauty. It’s simple and clean. The dark blue dial is fabulous and it isn’t complicated. Shipment took a bit long but overall it was worth it. Fabulous watch for beginners.

Looks good, price is right, but unless you wear it everyday or buy an automatic watch winder it will stop running after around 24 hours. Then again, so does my Rolex which costs X140.

I am not sure what other posters were expecting when they ordered this watch, however I can vouch for the fact that if you know anything about Seiko watches you will be more than pleased with this one. This is the preferred watch brand of my family as they have been around a long time, they're not too terribly expensive, and they work. I bought this particular one for my boyfriend for our anniversary. First off, mechanical watches tend to lose track of time by about two minutes a week, especially if they're not worn very often or not enough. Second of all, mechanical watches, because of the nature of the watch, will need servicing from time to time to make sure that they're still keeping time accurately (no pun intended). The hands on the watch, if given enough light and charge, are reflective. The dials are not, however this is pretty typical of Seiko watches. This watch is the EXACT same watch we saw in the department store so If you've been looking at them in Macy's or something you can feel good about purchasing it. A beautiful piece, navy but almost black it's so dark so will go with anything, date setting is bilingual (Spanish or English) & product overall is very Seiko.

Unico punto negativo è il bracciale che "sibila" un po' ed è abbastanza leggero, ma esteticamente rende davvero molto bene. Se rapportiamo al prezzo secondo me sono cinque stelle che è difficile non dare (parliamo di orologi che quando sono stati messi sul mercato costavano intorno ai 100 euro). Un plauso secondo me va fatto al quadrante con questo pattern. Lo consiglio a chi cerca un orologio per tutti i giorni, non costoso e che sappia anche abbinarsi ad un abito

Excellent watch. This is one vintage watch you don't want to miss, these are now no longer available except for here or perhaps someone else who is selling new old stock. The movement is the 7s26c. Does not hack or hSnd wind, but it's not supposed to, and it's supposed to be the way it is. It's the same movement as the skx 007 diver people love. It takes a knock. Anyway it's got the old fashioned "5" logo running down the dial in deep purple. You don't see it till it hits the light and the colour can make the dial appear black to purple in light. These older discontinued Seiko 5 watches won't come again, I have 5 Seiko 5 vintage ones. I would have had 6, buty son wanted a beautiful one that was in my top 2, so I gave him it and he loves it. Mine keeps brilliant time, and it will last a lifetime if you want to. Parts are plenty because of the brand, but In my mind, I had to get this. It's great on my 6.5 wrist. Very easy to size yourself by having a precision screwdriver or just that plain watch tool you always get with straps or micro brand watches. The bracelet is vintage rolled stainless steel and makes it very light. Anyway. I have pictures. These when they are gone, are gone. They are just bringing out the vintage snxs series movements again, so this will maybe come back, but you will not get this dial.the lume is really good for the watch size and lasts, oils in watches like this are non drying synthetic oils, and they are really keep fine. Old oils used to be animal fats, and they dried up, but that was years ago. This watch will run as good as it would have back when it came out. Mine is a October 2015 model. It's on the picture, the serial number on Seiko watches are able to be deciphered to what month and year they were made so look at my picture and you see it begins with what year number in the decade it was made, then you tell the numbers like 2 for February and on mine, it's an "O" for October. The movement is also revision c, which was the best finalised movement in this calibre. Great watches plus it has a display case-back with Seiko etched on the back plate and at the balance and stamped on the rotor, to show their movements branding. The new ones are only stamped on the rotor. Unless you are really spending a couple of thousand pounds. They don't make them like this anymore. I have some from 2012 and they work absolutely fine. So you want a stylish real automatic workhorse movement. This is in these Seiko 5's. I hope you enjoyed the pictures 🙂

Bin top zufrieden Preis ist für mich persönlich zu gut für die Qualität kenne mich aber auch nicht besonders gut aus Das erste einstellen ist durch die japanischen Wochentags Anzeigen erstmal leicht verwirrend aber wenn man die Anleitung oder ein Video schaut bekommt man es sehr schnell auf die deutsche Wochentags Anzeige eingestellt Das einstellen der Größe ist verhältnismäßig einfach man benötigt aber etwas dünnes spitzes (am besten richtiges Werkzeug) wenn man das aber hat ist es in nicht mal 5min erledigt Alles im allem würde ich die Uhr jedem empfehlen der für 200€ eine Seiko mit Automatikwerk haben möchte
