Sharp, easy to play
Delivery as stated, arrived within 5 days. This is bought for my son, 11 years and just starts grade 5 on this one. Finger holes are slightly big compare earlier one but he soon adjusted to play more. The old is accent for over 25 years and still sound good but harder to blow. I bought this after reading on many sites recommendation, excellent value. Hope my boy will not bite and knock it like the early one.

You can't go wrong with a Yamaha
From a technical point of view this is pretty much spot on. If you can't play what you need to play on this it is you and not the recorder - and that's what you want when you're learning, there is nothing worse than trying to learn a new skill and your equipment is holding you back. If I had to find something to criticise I would say that the sound can be a little harsh, but that brightness also means that you can easily add ornaments with breath control. Like all plastic recorders moisture builds up in the instrument and needs blowing through - I just blast it from the bottom end and that clears the fipple and labium. Like all plastic recorders it's easy to care for, just wash it in the washing up bowl and then rinse it clean.

Disappointed
Moisture and spit collect in the mouth piece when you are playing and badly effects the sound. You can't get rid of it in the usual way of blowing it out so you have to suck it back up! Yuck! Otherwise it would be great as the higher notes do sound better when you don't have any spit caught in it!

All I need todo now is learn how to play it. If you have set your mind on learning to play something this recorder might be just the thing. I am going to give it a go and try and complete one more thing on my bucket list.

A much needed upgrade from Yamaha's cheaper recorders. In honesty, it still does sound cheap, but each note is fairly clean and sweet, this recorder makes for an enjoyable practice session. Still a fantastic instrument to use when not performing. This recorder comes with a great case, a cleaning rod, and grease for the connecting joints of the recorder, the use of grease is essential in making sure you do not prematurely wear the recorder through its lifetime. It is definitely a perfect starting recorder and kit.

The Yamaha YRW-302B soprano recorder met all of my expectations. It is well made instrument with very good intonation. It's tone is bright and crisp. It's bell section comes off smoothly for swabbing. I use it as a practice instrument complementing a Moeck maple recorder. The Moeck has a softer and more mellow tone while the plastic Yamaha is brighter and louder. The Yamaha is a joy to play.
