Flir One - Thermal Imaging Camera for iOS Smartphones (iPhone 14 and Older w/Lightning Port), 240x180 Super Resolution (80x60 Native IR)

I got this used. Looked like it was never taken out of the packaging. The image quality is spectacular with the enhancement (outlines of edges and such), really helps identify hotspots easily. Came with a nice hard case and USB-A to USB-C Cable. The image is neat with the little cross hairs reticle and temp reading, allowing pinpoint temp identification. I trust this unit more than I do a cheap infrared thermometer. Automatically calibrates, and color changes as hotter items get introduced to view. I do not regret buying this thing. The worst I see with it is it doesn't reach through my other box cover. The rubber is just too thick. So I ordered an 80 gbps male to female USB-C data cable and will use it unattached from phone. I keep hitting the power button due to it being centered on the unit, and me holding it on phone tightly. Image clarity is spectacular. And allows you to see at night. It isn't hard to use, easy to deploy. I don't have a full hour into its use. Definitely gonna be handy for hotspots on engines! Picture shows an LED 100 watt equivalent. It's neat to look at what has heat and what don't. If you are considering getting one, it is worth $200.

As an add-on for an Android phone, it works fairly well. This camera is not high resolution, nor does it display the actual temperatures of the objects in the image, but it does show differences in the thermal signature that can show you where insulation is missing or loose, or leaks are letting air in or out, etc. You can save an image in the phone if you want to use it for more study, or to give to another person. The "visible light" camera (which is separate) results in synthetically outlined major visible objects, so you can see how the object fits into the scene with a direct overly over the thermal image. I've used it to check the thermal performance in our rooms, in the attic, etc., to help me focus on what needs to be fixed or adjusted. The software can be a bit frustrating when it decides "you've seen enough" and shuts it down. The camera itself also has an on-board battery which must be charged prior to use, so running down the battery can make it shut down also. A review that I read mentioned that it would be nice to have some sort of strap or holder to keep it on the phone, since you hold the phone while it dangles at the bottom. Sometimes it falls off, or gets disconnected due to tilting, which is annoying. The accuracy and picture quality ratings reflect the points made above, and the overall rating reflects these plus the additional issues. Nonetheless, it is one of the more useful IR cameras for low cost, if not the best.

I bought the FLIR One (part # 435‑0005‑03) hoping to add thermal imaging to my workflow, but it turned out to be unusable with my phones.- Motorola Moto E22 (Mediatek MT6765V/CB Helio G37 chipset) – the camera would not pair with the FLIR app.- Samsung Galaxy A13 – I tried the same camera on this device as well, and it failed to connect there too.I contacted FLIR support, and they confirmed that the FLIR ONE Pro, Pro LT, and Gen 3 models have known connectivity issues with several Android chipsets—including the Mediatek Helio G37 and the chipset used in the Galaxy A13. The support rep pointed me a knowledge‑base article where they list some of the devices that are not usable (search for answer #2897 in flir custhelp)What’s missing: The product description makes no mention of these compatibility limits. As a result, I spent time and money on a device that I can’t actually use.Bottom line: If you have a phone with a Mediatek chipset or many other Android models (including the Samsung Galaxy A13), this camera will likely refuse to pair. Check the compatibility list before buying, or choose a different thermal camera that explicitly supports your phone. Otherwise, you may end up requesting a refund, as I did.
