Worked as expected! I bought a Harbor Breeze Boltz III fan from Lowes, it only has a remote, but I bypassed the receiver by connecting the orange wire (going from the receiver to the capacitor) with the black wire coming into the receiver (puts the power from the switch directly into the capacitor). Then I disconnected the blue wire for the light from the receiver, extended it with a separate wire, threaded it through the center of the motor assembly and connected it to a separate hot wire from a light switch on the wall. Once I had the fan and light on separate switches, installing the Lutron switch for the fan worked perfectly to control the fan speed, no need for a remote or chain pulls. Just make sure that your fan has an A/C motor and that you feel comfortable with doing some rewiring and electrical work.

Pull chains grinding your gears? This switch allows you to control the fan speed without pulling chains. It's simple; with 3 settings, and adjusts like a Diva dimmer. I have noticed the low setting is slightly slower than the fan's low speed. It works well through for sleeping as it subtly moves air without the 'whoosh'. All in all, it's a great switch and simple to install/use.

It says 3 speeds, and that is exactly what it is. With a slider I expected it to be continuously variable, but the slider has 3 solid detentes, thus 3 fixed speeds. But really, do you need to fine tune a ceiling fan? It matches the Lutron light dimmer switch installed beside it, so it looks good. The install is easy, but you have to pay attention to the instructions, as the switch has a "traveler wire", so it can be used is 2 way switch circuits. Lutron is a good company. I had a problem with a couple of their dimmers and they sent me replacements even though they were out of warranty. So you can buy with confidence!

Excellent product, My ceiling fans do not have that irritating whine from the original rotary dimmer. Very quiet and work well.

The speed control is not intuitive (top s/b high, bottom off). Off is actually somewhere in the middle, with low at the bottom and high at the top. Not certain if this info was to be conveyed in the “manual”, since my box just had the switch inside. I finally noticed that the word “off” was stamped on the heat sink near the center and figured it out. The switch works silently with no hum, but off and medium take some fumbling to engage.

This works for a Hunter Valda ceiling fan. This ceiling fan does not have pull chains and only works with a remote and module. I do not like remotes for ceiling fans so I removed the remote module and installed this directly to the fan. I used a separate single pole switch for the light. This has 3 speeds and works the same as a pull chain just more conveniently placed at the switch. This switch CONTROLS THE FAN ONLY! You need a different switch to control the light.

Can't be used for an exhaust fan, that was unclear from the specifications

Before purchasing this make sure your fan in a 3 speed fan and not a 4 speed fan. Seen a lot of bad reviews on this product saying the fan speeds are way off but that would only be the case if you used a 3 speed switch on a 4 speed fan or if the setting on the fan itself is not set to the highest speed. This switch worked EXACTLY as described when used properly. Would buy again!

This thing sucks, 3 speed -stopped -barely moving -full speed GARBAGE looks elsewhere for something that works
