Star Wars Millennium Falcon: Owner's Workshop Manual

I have bought many "Owner's Manual" books to help me with my diorama and modeling work. Some, like the "Ghostbusters Ectomobile" and "Doc Brown's Delorean Time Machine" volumes have proven to be excellent resources. Since I am building several 1:6 scale dioramas based on areas within the Millennium Falcon, this was an automatic purchase for me as I assumed it would prove as invaluable a resource as all my previous purchases. While there are a couple specific photos that are excellent (the reason for the three-stars I am giving it), this book really falls short. Despite being the "Millennium Falcon Owner's Manual" it spends the first quarter of the book showing black and white line schematics of all the other variations on the Corellian Freighter. It isn't until page 30 (out of 125) that you finally hit the pages specific to the title ship. The first decent interior photo doesn't appear until page 48 and most of them are small. Even then, it focuses a lot on just a handful of specific bits (the Nav Computer for instance) and even finds space in its lower-than-average page count to reprint photos of actors from the films. If you want nice detailed interior photography (or even close-up details of the exterior) to see how this ship looked in the films, this is NOT the resource you are looking for. I'll be keeping my copy because it was so cheap that it's not really worth the effort to return and because it *does* have a couple of photos that I find useful (a cool photo of Chewie working below in a maintenance bay and a good shot of the main cargo hold that has a really nice angle where you can see the ceiling on page 106), but I am not impressed with this reference beyond these few good shots.

We have seen lots of technical information on the Millennium Falcon over the years. Starting with the Starlog Technical Manuals to entries in the Essential Guides and Vehicle Cross Section books to even a 3D layered book. All of these were great entries and held lots of cool information. However Haynes has made the best of the best among all of them.Just about everything that mentioned in the other books is all here along with lots more. It reads like a product catalog for this Corellan light freighter along with the other models. So not only do you get detailed specs on our beloved cruiser you also get some details on several Falcon-like variations like cockpit placement, engine types, cargo capacities and other unexpected "options". But the meat of the book is all Falcon. This is not a repair manual in the sense that people are used when seeing Hayne's on the cover. None of Hayne's sci-fi books are. It is a detailed set of specifications though, and really that should be enough.Every system, function, feature, and modification is specified on this manual. You get to read about the standard parts as well as the ones tricked out by Solo and previous owners. You get specifics on navigation and maneuvering, weapons systems, guidance and sensor systems, defensive shielding, cargo capacity, support systems, available factory options (you can get a mini-fighter launched from one of the access hatches) and more. There is enough here for you to even imagine what you own Corellan freighter would be like.As I stated earlier this book pretty much trumps every other technical entry previously published. You think you have some awesome stuff already? You probably do, but with this book has more. Guaranteed. If you absolutely love the Millennium Falcon and would absolutely love all the info you can gather this book is it. Unlike other Star Wars books that seem to be constantly updated with new stuff (thus making new editions to buy) I would be hard pressed to conceive how much more can be done than this book... unless somebody makes a real repair manual.

My wife is a Star Wars fan and she loves it. Looks totally legit when compared to my auto repair manuals.

The Millennium Falcon is easily the most popular ship in the Star Wars universe. This book takes an in-universe approach to the Falcon, written as if it were a real Haynes manual for the Falcon. One thing I don't like about in-universe books is that they often have to create ridiculous excuses to get the character to narrate. However, for the Falcon manual the narrator is an official from the Corellian Engineering Corporation who is proud of the Falcon but doesn't inject too much of himself into the narrative. Overall, it works pretty well overall.Readers will probably be most interested in the history of the Falcon, including a lineage that goes back to the Old Republic. The text is accompanied by beautiful still photos and schematics of the Falcon. The sections that detail the armaments, computer systems, etc are probably less exciting to read through, but are great to have at hand if you're ever curious about a particular aspect of the ship.As much as I like the book, it is short and the current price tag seems a bit much. I think maybe two-thirds of the price would be a bit better. I'd recommend waiting for a sale, unless you're really anxious to get it.

I am a retired engineer and i am a nerd and HUGE Star Wars fan. I have always had Hanes manuals for my vehicles and i have all of these for the ships in Star Wars.The price was right. A good value.The artwork is superb. And the trivia about the Millennium Falcon and other YT and similar ships is really cool. All fans and nerds should have this and other books like it in their collection

Ah, the classic 1977 YT-1300, they don't make 'em like that anymore. With this manual, I will make enough modifications to do the Kessel Run in less than 11.5 parsecs. Now I know you'll be saying that a Parsec is a measurement of distance and not time, and you'd be right. I've plotted a route that with better output from the already modified engines will allow me to travel that much closer to stars without being sucked in by their gravitational fields. So yeah, the distance can be reduced, so it looks like Solo was right all these years (shame about his nipper's "daddy" issues).

This is a book about the Falcon, apparently, the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. Possibly one of the most thought about and wanted spaceship from the Star Wars universe, along with an X-Wing of course. Being able to have this reference material is going to enhance the Bandai 1-144 scale version I have yet to build. Not your typical Haynes manual.

I bought this when it was £7 rather than the £15 RRP and found it good value. There is a lot of detail in the book, and although most of the information can be found on the internet, it's brought together in an informative and enjoyable way. Having said that, there is a lot of unique content here - such as the variants of the ship and also some good close up shots (of a model, not THE model) so it's work it for those.It's only a small book at 125 pages, but has a lot of illustrations and pictures and is a welcome addition to any sci fi fans library. It would be nice to see more of these type of manuals from Haynes so fingers crossed!

I think the amazing dedication of publishers to create and foster from time to time the universes of these creations. I admire the ingenuity of other writers in giving credibility to the objects and people exist in this universe, you make it believable and palpable that was created by the imagination. For a moment everything is real!! I love it too!!

For all those people out there with a battered old corellian yt1300 freighter sitting in their yard, this is a nice little book about your ship, including general history and schematics.It's not actually any good if you want to fix your craft's repulsor lifts or the hyperdrive engine but that's what the orbital and ground based dockyards are for.
