Inspired by the arc of an epic night out, Jon Hopkins' fourth solo album Immunity is about achieving euphoric states through music.

Jon Hopkins is no one else
Jon is one of the greatest musical artists ever, in my opinion. His work is never trite or clumsy and it always sparkles with genius. Each track on this album resonates with a different part of me. Jon's previous works have been equally beautiful and unique, but this album is particularly crafty at appealing to even the most elusive facets of my states of being. "We Disappear" actually gave me an anxiety attack around 1:35 or so. "Open Eye Signal" continued to encourage my anxiety and suggested I might remain in that state forever. As the album progressed however, I felt as though I was receiving an intellectual and spiritual deep tissue massage. This album worked me over and left me deeply relaxed and really thankful that Jon Hopkins makes music. If you liked "Insides" by Jon Hopkins, you will definitely like this album. If you like music that demands active listening, this is for you.If you haven't heard Jon Hopkins before, you should definitely listen to this album, but be certain to listen to ALL of his music because there is a great deal of diversity and range. The last track, "Immunity", is probably the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard in my life.

Captivating experimental synth. Instant classic.
Sturdy gatefold, clean art, nice pressing. The grooves look really cool, each side with a short intro song and the remainder one long song. It’s like it was made with vinyl in mind. The music itself is very groovy and interesting - great ambient instrumental with an analogue, imperfect synth beat that continues in repetitious, but changing sounds. Deep, gritty sound made with experimental production. Definitely a must have in your collection if youre into instrumental electronic soundscapes.

Divine electronic tapestry
On long flights, as well as watching movies, I love to rummage around the music section to discover new stuff. I have unearthed many wonderful gems in this way, ranging from Zaz (http://www.amazon.com/Zaz/dp/B003UY0ZFS/ref=tmm_other_meta_binding_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1404310249&sr=1-1) to Dhafer Youssef's Birds Requiem (http://www.amazon.com/Birds-Requiem-Dhafer-Youssef/dp/B00HQ06R5E/ref=sr_1_1?s=dmusic&ie=UTF8&qid=1404310344&sr=1-1&keywords=birds+requiem). This is how I came across Immunity, which I enjoyed so much I listened to it twice flying from Houston to London. I'm pretty rubbish at ascribing musical genres but simply love this hypnotic, involving, meditative, exciting, soothing, emotive electronic tapestry. One to put on and let your mind wander free where it will. I'm an artist and will be listening to this a lot while I work.

New John Hopkins!
This latest effort is a slightly new direction than his prior work, IMO, but Coldplay has done the same and I still love them! The singles 'Abandon Window' and 'Immunity' most closely resemble, to me, the John Hopkins that I am most familiar with. I LOVE those cuts in particular, and I am sure the rest of this CD will grow on me as well! One of my newest and favorite artists, for sure!

An emotional electronic album for the new millennium.
I was first introduced to Jon Hopkins through a set promoted by the Boiler Room. The album at first listen is a grasp of deeper, quiet felt transitions, ranging from exciting head-bobbing beats, to nostalgic piano scores reminiscent of age old classics. An album to listen to while working tediously by your computer or artwork. Open the windows ahead of you, let the cool breeze envelope you while you sit back to enjoy this wonderful composition by Mr. Hopkins.

Beautiful
It is not often that an album can be both calming or peaceful and yet energizing. Somehow, Jon Hopkins manages the best of both here. This is absolutely fantastic music for driving, particularly at night. Abandon Window, a track from this album, is a breathtakingly quiet, melancholic, possibly borderline sad, but also one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Anyone into piano or electronica (or both) should find much to like here!

Mildy Disappointing
After absolutely loving Jon Hopkins' first album, "Opalescent", I must confess to being a bit disappointed in each of his subsequent albums. Maybe I just "don't get it", but to me it seems like every album since "Opalescent" has degenerated because they are infused with too many random, extraneous, percussive noises, not unlike an auto mechanic's tool chest (or my wife's purse) being dumped onto a concrete floor. On a positive note, the later tracks on this album, "Immunity", display less of these distractions and are more in the vein of "Opalescent".

great record
Great downtempo techno or upbeat ambient record. Definitely will pursue his other work based on this. I like this quite a bit more than Boards of Canada, and they have a good deal of praise, but the style is similar. If you like this record, check out releases from Clark or from Leila, two highly underrated acts that aren't a stretch from this sound and style.

Indescribably Beautiful
this album by Jon Hopkins is such a masterpiece. There is a quiet and delicate beauty to his music that makes you grateful to be alive. My favourites on the album are Abandon Window and Immunity. King Creole on the latter track makes you feel like you're floating. Thank you Jon Hopkins for this formidable piece.

Brilliant Electronic
Possibly the best album of 2013. The songs flow together smoothly and are highly varied - "Abandon Window" is immensely different from "Collider", but both are wonderful in their own way. It's clear that Jon Hopkins put a lot of effort into this one. "Open Eye Signal" is the standout track.
