The Adventures of Beanboy Paperback – Illustrated, September 15, 2015

Spoiler alert: scroll past if you don’t want any plot disclosures. I am a sucker for an adventure with a happily-ever-after ending. Even more, I want my boys reading books where good wins out over evil. Life is tough: let books take us away from that reality for a little while and dream of a place where everything works out for a change. Tucker and the other characters still have challenges ahead when the book ends but their struggles paid off and the jerks are exposed. Illustrations sprinkled throughout kept my capable but reluctant reader engaged. He especially liked that some chapters were super-short but I loved that they all weren’t. Can’t wait to read the next one!!

My students LOVED this book. It's a fun choice for a read aloud and it touches on real life situations that many students experience (having a single parent in college, dealing with the aftermath of a divorce, having a disabled sibling, etc.). I hope to read the rest of the series!

If you like superheroes you would love this book it is about a boy named Tucker MacBean and he wants to get his sidekick Beanboy to be H2O another superheroes sidekick.
