If you could give a s*** about Archaeology then this book is not for you. However, if Archaeology and new groundbreaking technology is an interest, then this is a fascinating book. I first became aware of this topic while watching a show on the Discovery channel that followed Dr, Parcak and her quest to get a possible pyramid excavated, using the data she gathered from satellite remote sensing, which allows one to "see" beneath the surface. This was one of the most exciting shows I had watched regarding archeological finds, in years and Dr Parcak's enthusiasm is contagious, which carries over into her book. She also addresses ethics and if one looks beyond the specific subject matter, the book is also a guideline on how to be successful in any profession. There are great comparison charts of what each satellite provides in imagery, costs, a site checklist, how to establish signatures and also some interesting examples of ethics in the field. I donated the book to a local college that does a lot of archaeology and has a good remote sensing class.
