It's a great design and just the right size. But then it started to get discolored by what looked like rust. I went back and read the reviews, and started seeing all the complaints about rust, so I thought, oh well, I should have read the reviews before. However, I then cleaned it off, and found out a few things. First, what looked like rust really wasn't. Everything cleaned right off of both the product and the tile shower shelf. Secondly, the product had some type of plastic coating on it that I think might have been interacting with the soap and causing the discoloration. I used an abrasive pad. It all came off, and I've had no more issues with discoloration. So, now it works great.

Got it early July and early October it is rusted and not usable anymore. Can not possibly be stainless steel. Too late to get my money back - but better to keep looking. This product is not what it says it is in the description. Hello? Amazon? Update 11/2/11 Contacted InterDesign and they got back to me rather quickly. Offered to send a one time only replacement (much appreciated). Also told me that the product is indeed stainless. The stuff that looks like rust is discoloration from soap or other (cleaning) chemicals. Said to try scrubbing it with something like Bar Keeper's Friend. I did. And it worked. I also sent it through the dishwasher afterward and it is as good as new. So - for everyone who thought it rusted, if you still have the product, try this method. It should work. I was really surprised, but happy - so my review is now 5 stars. Thanks, InterDesign for being so responsive and helpful. Much appreciated.

The stainless steel soap saver with its simple, straight forward style, has the beauty of both form and function. I value the simplicity of lines and it is well made. Esthetically, I think it blends with many styles of decor. Over time, I found rust did develop on the surface. However, for me this is a helpful reminder. It ensures I clean the soap stand regularly instead of letting it accumulate lots of soap residue and become messy, as any uncleaned soap dish does. Plus, the rust comes off easily, so I find cleaning it to actually be reinforcing. But that's me. You may feel differently.

I bought this to place a bottle that sits on my sink. The bottom of the bottle would always have mold or gunk under it and I can't stand that so I bought this to place the bottle on it so water can dry off without causing mold anymore. I've had it for a while and plenty of water gets on it but still no color change and anything, still looks new and no more dirty bottom bottles.

Update* it’s 7/14/2025 and it looks like the day I bought it! 5 stars easy! Let me do the research for you...this is the cheapest, best, brushed stainless (will work for satin nickel too) soap saver that you will find online and probably anywhere. There was a comment from someone having a rusting issue right away...I'm guessing that person is using a VERY caustic cleaning agent - as we have had this product for over a year and the finish looks as good as it did when we bought it. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is...they should have constructed it with a small lip to help prevent the soap from sliding off. You see...in a standard shower...the corner shelf sits at an angle to help drain off any standing water...so if you place this soap saver on it...and then place your soap on the soap saver - it it has the potential to slide off. IHowever, the angle is not that steep and it has only happened once to me...so don't let that deter you from buying this product; I'm just splitting hairs here!

Started perfect. Some thin finish eventually peeled off and the product rusted. Discarded after four months of use.

Very cute and sturdy good quality soap dish. Perfect for us because you can essentially put any size bar of soap on it. We make our own goat milk soap in various sizes so this was important to me. I get a bunch of compliments on this. It does not have a “dish” underneath to catch drips obviously so I do wipe soap residue off counter daily when I wipe down kitchen. But I knew that when I bought it. I just love how different and unique it is. Top quality especially for price.
