The Original Iron Man
This takes me back to my pre teens when these comics first came out. I preferred The Hulk and Spiderman comics to Iron Man but I liked most Marvel comics to DC and they were in colour unlike British comics. The origin story is very similar to the one shown in the film except the comic story is set in Vietnam. All in all a great bit of nostalgia.

So, the new Iron man film has generated a dozen or so new book releases and this is one of the best. When I was younger I never much cared for the artwork of Don Heck, preferring the more dynamic styles of Kirby and Buscema. but revisiting these early stories after some forty years I am impressed with their clear confident story telling. Some of the tales have dated a bit, particularily the first half dozen or so, but issues 45 onwards, with one or two exceptions, are all very readable, and some are downright enjoyable. Also I must correct the information suplied by Amazon; this 355 page volume reprints Iron Man Tales of Suspense 1963-1964, that's issues 39-55, tremendous value for only a tenner. The US (hardback) Iron Man Masterworks volume one only reprints issues 39-50, retails for about £25 and is currently out of print. A lovely example of early Marvel, beautifully reprinted on good quality paper.Buy it.
