Great 5" hunting/camp knife
I have owned and used Marttiini knives for many, many years with no complaints. Marttiini knives are made in Finland. Don't let the price fool you. Many used to scoff at a Mora. Who's laughing now? Marttiini knives are awesome woodsman / hunter knives. This 5" bladed knife is perfect for all-around general camping. The sheath has a plastic insert to prevent damage from the blade. US customers are not used to this. These sheaths will last for many years. They are easily sharpened to hair popping sharpness. They have a great grip in all weather conditions. Highly recommended.

A Quality Knife
This knife is an extension of your hand and is so perfectly balanced it feels almost weightless. Grip/handle does not slip even when wet for extended periods. Stainless steel so no rust and the blade is quality steel that takes a razor edge that lasts longer than other knives I've carried over the years. Note: The edge lasts "longer", NOT forever. Every knife needs to be sharpened now and then. The sheath holds the knife securely, even when running, and the stitching is professional and tight. I have had this knife on my belt for most of a year and for this price mark and this quality, it would be difficult to do better than this blade. USMC 30 years, Retired.

Blade great, sheath not so great!
Impressed with the knife, but not the sheath! Thin and cheap looking. You can do better Martinni!! That's what only 3 stars! The sheath is half the package! I'll keep it for a bag knife!

Great knife for the price
Great knife for the price. I am a logger, use a knife everyday, and have found this to be much better than a Mora. I will compare this with a Mora since most people are familiar with that knife and I was looking for a similar knife that was better to work with. It stays sharp longer, the handle is 10X better for a nice hold, the stainless steel is great for its anti- rust properties, and the longer length of blade works much better for cutting vines and getting through stringy wood. I have bent the tip of the blade on this one, but I have broken the tips off all of my Moaras (I use these as beater work knives, I use other knives for hunting). The sheath is nicer material than the Mora, but not as functional. With the Mora I can hold my saw in one hand and get the knife in and out with the other. The loose leather on this knife makes it a little harder and often I have to put my saw down and use 2 hands to get the knife out. I was initially concerned about the durability of the finger guard (I first thought it was plastic) but have found the aluminum to be tough and the ridges on it are great for traction. Well worth double the cost of a Mora companion for a much better blade. I hope this helps.

Best knife on the market to this day
I have ordered a lot of knives before. I love knives. I never had a knife razor sharp right out of the box until now. This knive is light weight , comfortable , I have big hands I still have room on the handle. The knife is sharp and is extremely good looking too. I use it as a esc knife. I put rope on it made it to a neck knife. This knife goes in the sheer so tight if hang upside down shake it as hard as you can I won't come out. This I simply a must have for hunters collectors or just everyday usage. I found the perfect knife. It cuts with ease. Its also great steak knife. Thank you for your time. You will not be disappointed I promise you.

The Accidental Good Knife
I bought this knife assuming it would be a longer version of the Morakniv Heavy Duty (HD) Companion, only in stainless steel. The photo doesn't do it justice. It's a heavy duty hunter alright, sporting a five-inch polished blade. Ferocious looking. Looks like something you'd take out in the woods to cut up game or just use as a utility camp knife. Mine came razor sharp. Though much wider than the Mora HD, the heft is very light, reminiscent of the old Buck Knife black-handled fixed blades I used 20-30 years ago. The handle is rubberized for a sure grip. The clip portion on the blade isn't as pronounced as it was on those Bucks. The tip, like the rest of the spine, is pretty thick so you don't have to worry about chipping it off when you hit bone or something hard. The sheath is some kind of plastic, faux leather. Not very fond of it but It does hold the knife securely. It takes a little practice placing the knife back into the plastic insert housed inside the bottom of sheath. Cut up some heavy boxes I had in the garage the other day and later, sliced some steaks off a roast. Easy-peasy. For thirty bucks, it looks to be a bargain. Highly recommended.

Marttiini (Finland), along with Mora (Sweden), is one ...
Marttiini (Finland), along with Mora (Sweden), is one of the premier manufacturers of low price fixed blade knives that exhibit a degree of quality for the amount of money that you spend. My knife arrived razor sharp, right out of the box. The "leather" sheath appears to have been made out of some synthetic leather-like material. No problem. It will probably outlast real leather once exposed to the elements (edited: my mistake - upon further examination the sheath is made of "real" leather). Having read some of the "negative" review here on Amazon, I note that one reviewer complained that the finger guard was made of plastic. Not so. It is a bead blasted aluminum amalgam. At this price point (+- $25) you really can't go wrong with this knife. You will get your money's worth.
