Speeds, heh, all ports are capable of 1GB+ which is really fast, it's a fat pipe few will ever fill. That assumes Cat-6 cables throughout the network, however. Also, in high-electronic noise situations, you're likely to need shielded Cat-6 cables. When I bought mine (2 DGS-108s), I bought the shielded Cat6 Ethernet cables pre-made from Amazon and got rid of all my old Cat5E cords, most of whom were twenty years old anyway. I don't use wireless, I won't have it, but with three TVs, three DVDs, two work stations and a couple of laser printers and a laptop, I needed lots of ports, I figured I'd take the two-hundred-dollar hit, replace it all and be done with it, even though the TVs, DVD players and printers will never use the speed. I do have a couple of Ethernet drives that transfer at speeds a little faster than 500MB/S with the new cables and hubs, so in that regard, I got some benefit from the faster hubs. When you're talking 1GB speeds, the limiting factor is the hardware attached to the 1GB hubs rather than the Cat6 cabling and GB hubs.
