Yes, you leave the spout in the decanter. It pours very nicely and does not drip. My parents use it everyday, and they serve from decanter — best gift EVER!

In the winter there are some wines I like to drink warm. Wondering if the bottom is flat so it can be placed on an electric cup warmer?

It is not flat and the glass is thin. I'm not sure it would do well on a hot burner/warmer
