We have a bald cypress tree not too far from the drain. During heavy rains, or even melting snow, the drain would periodically plug up with grass clippings, leaves, and from the fall until the next spring- bald cypress needles, flooding the back yard. Would have to wade out in 6" deep water and try to clear it off, which typically only worked temporarily. Replaced it with a 12" square drain and this cover. The cover fit perfectly and after a couple months of use, we've had zero issues. Those fine bald cypress needles have packed themselves around the very bottom layer, but doesn't seem to have slowed the water flow over the top of it a bit. No more wading into hand-numbing water or during thunderstorms to clear the drain! Review: Perfect fit - Bought this dome drain top because the flat grate that was on my catch basin would get all clogged up with leaves and mulch whenever it rained a lot, creating a huge puddle. At one point after more than 2 days of steady rain the puddle became a lake and was almost up to my front door! One could go out and remove the debris and it would drain just fine, until the drain clogged up again. Though I couldn't find a 10" dome drain like this to fit my particular catch basin, this 12" version fit over it just fine, and snug as well.
