Riot Mako 10 Kayak with Impulse Drive, Pedal Kayak for Fishing

Ok. So the delivery was prompt and they packaged it very well. No damages.PROS:This kayak was very easy to assemble. Got it done in 5 minutes. Very light for its class.( I can haul it around alone with no issues.) Smooth pedal. Instant reverse! Handles boat waves well. Stable enough to stand and cast. Easy to use. Did not log much water at all.Cons: slightly slower than competitors. No foot rests. Amazon should have stated that this particular kayak was the deluxe version. Not enough lumbar support from the seat. Seat could be higher for better comfort. Still give this yak a 10, based on size and quality.

Just put the boat in the water this morning.I was little concerned last Friday when the boat arrived, as some of the cardboard under the bubble wrap looked damage. the kayak turned out to be just fine- no scratches, dents, or holes that I could see.Assembly was pretty straightforward, though I did move the rudder control fom the right to the left side of the kayak (This was where the steering was on my hobie, and since I cast right handed, it's what works for me.) Nice to be able to do that.With the boat on sawhorses, the pedals felt fine . but once in the water, I noticed a significant change in the stiffness (water resistance, I suppose. ) And It seemed to be backward- pedalling "forward" like on a bike, I went backward, whereas "backpedalling" moved me forward. I hope this is something that can be changed. I am waiting on a response from Riot.The boat does not track well, but that may be somewhat due to the distraction of trying to pedal backwards to go forward. or maybe because it's very wide (36") fairly short (10') and the bottom is pretty flat.I suppose this sounds like a few red flags for people, so why did I give it 4 stars? Because I am confident the pedal thing can be fixed, and I am not planning on doing any sort of long distance travel where the tracking could be an issue.

Arrived with one dent in the rear, but overall good kayak.

I have been trying to get customer service to replace two minor parts. its been 3 weeks now and no one from riot has contacted me back. I have a tear in the rear storage cap and a fray in one of the rudder line. two small simple parts to replace. Also the seat attaches to the tracks on the sides and will slide out of the brackets easily. the rudder is very hard to raise and lower. The storage compartments are pretty much useless unless you do some modifications. the storage doors lead into the hull with nothing to stop your gear from sliding to the middle where you would not be able to retrieve what ever you put in it. so basically it is just a cap. I'm still waiting for customer service to contact me. If I do not hear from them I will start a return with Amazon. If I knew what I know now, I would have bought from a local dealer. I will not make this mistake again.

I read all the reviews before I bought this kayak for my wife. It was easy to assemble even though the instructions were vague at best. It is well built and it functions well especially for the price. It is not for anybody over 5 10 or long legs. I am 6 foot and with the seat all the way back I cant turn the pedals it is too cramped. It is certainly comfortable for my 5 2 wife though. It came to us without a scratch which was another concern of other buyers.

Kayak came in damage with a deep crease in the back right side and a few smaller ones here and there. It would be hard for me to believe this happened during the shipping process as the kayak was packaged well and didn't seem to be damaged at all, so it seems the distributor probably sent it out in this condition. I attempted to return the kayak but was told I'd need to pay return shipping which was around $300 to receive my refund... Needless to say, it wasn't worth it to send it back and now I'm stuck with this kayak.For anyone thinking about purchasing this kayak, do your research and consider spending a little more to purchase a better quality kayak. The material is of poor quality and standing up on it is a nightmare, as the floor bends in more than I'm comfortable with. The rudder system is also terrible. When using the steering handle, it makes a noticeable grinding noise when attempting to make a sharp turn that it's capable of doing.

So far I had this Kayak for little less than a month. It’s very stable and I can stand up in it while fishing with no problems with tons of space that it’s really comfortable. I did have some minor issues the first is hand steering it was stiff and hard to move left and right but I managed to fix that problem and it now works like a charm the second is rudder system was not working properly but I fixed that as well, and the kayak didn’t come with a bucket or storage bag for the storage areas front and back, I find it hard to find parts for it online. But other then that it’s definitely worth the money and a amazing kayak I would recommend it to anyone you can’t go wrong for a peddle drive kayak for that price

Very sturdy construction, Built like an airplane, good controls, Very efficient pedal drive, Very stable on the water, especially rocky surfaces around speedboat wakes- Very happy with purchase
