These lock boxes are really great. I have an older SnapSafe lock box I've used for about a year that's been pretty beat up, and after a while I started to question its integrity. I was a bit worried when I noticed these were the same brand name. That being said, all worry went out the window as soon as I opened the box these came in. These are really nice lock boxes. They're keyed identically which is really nice so you only have to keep one key on your key ring. If you're like me, the less keys the better. It comes with four keys, so you have plenty of spares/backups. I use these lock boxes in my car, hidden out of sight. The improved security wire is really nice as it doesn't stick out into the lock box, allowing you to fit more things inside it. The safes themselves are very solid. It's a very heavy and thick metal case. They both came with two extra foam inserts that can be removed or added depending on your needs - very nice touch. The design on the boxes themselves make them very difficult to pry or break into. The lock mechanism seems very sturdy. It locks smoothly, no need to use force to get the lock to turn, and seems to be very well constructed. This is a bargain as far as I'm concerned at $50 for two. I used one to secure two firearms, a Sig Sauer P226 and a Taurus PT111 G2. Both firearms fit well and did not interfere with the lock mechanism. I used the extra padding to make sure the firearms did not move around while I transported them in a car. I used the other to secure ammunition. I was able to fit two PT111 G2 magazines, one P226 magazine and three 50 round boxes of 9mm ammunition (two 50 round boxes of Perfecta, slightly smaller box, and one 50 round box of Winchester Ranger. I had to move things around a little to get the magazines out of the way of the locking latch, but it worked out really well. I did this for interstate transportation, as ammunition and firearms need to be stored separately. Normally, I fit my P226 with one magazine and a 50 round box of ammo in one box, with room for a spare magazine. I was really in the fence on these when I bought them, and was considering many other brands/options. In the end I'm glad I chose these lock boxes as they have exceeded my expectations. Would buy again if I needed more. I will probably purchase one of the XXL boxes they sell in the near future.

Good box. It's solid and fits a full size pistol plus plus. It's heavy enough to resist a screwdriver pry attack and when you use the cable around a hard point should prevent a smash and grab. Of course it wont prevent an attacker with the right tools and enough time but it's not designed for that. A skilled picker might be able to defeat the lock in 30 seconds but your average criminal is not that. The purpose of this box is to prevent crimes of opportunity which it does very well and its one of the best, low cost options out there when the state deprives you of your right to defend your life when you must legally comply with the insanity of "gun free zones".

I wanted to have additional security in my car and for transporting when I was unable to legally carry my weapon. This is the perfect size for my Ruger Security 9 (similar size to a Glock 19). Magazines are double stacked and can hold 15 rounds. The lock box can fit the gun and 2 magazines just fine. My main uses are for locking up my gun when I am going somewhere I could not carry my weapon I thought the padding inside was too thick since it made it hard to close it so I removed a layer out. Lock box still works great after removing that 1 layer. The outside finish of the lockbox is very nice. To this date, I have had it for about 5 months. It has not scratched or chipped at all. I typically keep it under the passenger seat or have simply thrown it under the passenger seat floor mat to keep it out of sight. When I traveled to a state that did not honor my permit to carry, I locked my weapon up in the lock box and threw the lock box in my purse to transport it into my hotel where I was allowed to have my weapon out. Lock box did not get scratched from the contents of my purse, but I'm sharing this for the fact that it was able to fit completely in my shoulder purse. Only downfall was the smell of the foam padding when I first received it. Had a strong chemical smell that I hated but it has worn off after having it for 5 months. The cable is thick. Feels very strong and does the job. Overall, this is a very good buy for the price. Not disappointed with this purchase at all.

Case is great quality for such a low price. Great deterrent for a “smash and grab” of your gun out of your car. I would not trust it for storage overnight in a vehicle. Wrapped the cable around the base of the passenger seat rear bracket closest to driver seat. I can easily reach with my right hand to the floorboard of the passenger seat and retrieve the lock box. 3 digit combo keeps it keyless and quick access. The issue I see with negative reviews talking about getting locked out is not having the gun slide around in the case and interfering with the lock mechanism. Keep the gun away from the internal lock switch that allows you to set the combination you want and you will be fine. If you let gun/ammo/extra mag get into that switch then you will get locked out. Easy fix to permanently prevent that from EVER happening if you spend about 10 seconds looking at the switch. HINT (bend it over, or tape it in place if you plan on changing the combination multiple times.

The size is perfect, large enough for any pistol I choose to carry. I could actually fit two pistols into one safe. The cable seems to be an improvement over older models, being coated with a plastic that protects from scratching or damaging the firearm or interior of the vehicle. The construction of the safe is as advertised. Nice smooth grey finish with rounded edges and corners. Nothing to scratch interior or snag on carpet. Long enough cable to hide safe and retrieve it to more easily unlocked. By purchasing the two matching safes, the included matching keys, two keys per safe will open either safe... giving you four matching keys which can be used on either safe. Perfect in function, price and security. Highly recommend. I purchased the XXL which is approx 11.5 x 9 inches outside measurements. UPDATE: I used it last night and found it to be perfect. Cable is long enough go around one side of passenger seat mounts and allow safe to slide under the seat from rear floor board and back again with lock facing driver side to be unlocked.

This is a nice little safe for mounting in a vehicle. Using the included cable, I attached it under the passenger seat in my car. It's a simple matter to lean over to pull the safe from under the seat to store or retrieve items without needing to get out of the car. You can remove some of the foam inserts to make it roomier for larger items. With one set of inserts removed, it fits my Sig P365x Macro (in the holster) along with a spare mag. It's perfect for when I need to go into one of the many "sensitive" places here in the Soviet Socialist State of New Jersey and need to leave my gun in the car. Yes, a determined thief with sufficient time could cut the cable or otherwise access the safe, but it's certainly better than the glovebox or trunk. It's also very nice to have two safes that use the same key. I have one in both my cars. The only issue I encountered was that the safe would slide out from under the seat if I had to brake hard while driving. I solved this by putting two velcro strips on the bottom. These grip the carpet enough that the safe stays put. Overall a nice item.
