Colette's Birthday Cakes

If you're a fan of Colette's cakes, bear in mind that this is probably the LEAST inspiring of her collections. It is primarily a compendium of cakes that she has designed on commission - which means that she was making a cake based on someone else's requirements. That shows. There are some cute cakes in here but most lack the incredible imagination and versatility that one sees in other collections.

This book is not designed for beginners in decorating technique. But all people can use this book. This book is a wonderful reasource for designing your own special take. She will show you techniques, and give you ideas that will make your next special cake something extraordinary. She gives recipes for cakes, and icings. She gives patterns for you to use as well. I love this book because it showed how people make some of the wonderful things that they do. If you like cake decorating, or needs some new ideas this book will not disappoint you.

The only thing I like in this book was the chocolate cake that is easy to make, no need of a beater or a mixer machine. I made that cake and it was delicious it has whiskey and coffee in it. The rest it did not interest me. Its Ok. Colette is an amazing cake decorator according to some people but it does not appeal to me, although I give her credit for the hard work you can see in her cakes.

I gave this book 5 stars for many reasons such as great packaging, quickly shipped, the book was in great condition and the book it self had beautiful pictures and step by step instructions to creating beautiful art work. Amazing recipes with great directions and the results are always beautiful. I loved the book!

This is another great book by Colette Peters. She is extremely creative. If you have some good cake decorating experience under your belt, some of her cakes are very doable! Awesome photos! This book is very inspirational and chalk full of new projects to try! keep the great ideas coming, Colette!

Am I ever going to make any of these cakes? Not a chance. For a start, you'd need better kitchen equipment than Mary Berry. But these creations are so lush, so ridiculously over the top that you can't not love this book. You can choose from signs of the zodiac cakes, floral displays, even an antique velvet purse. Collette will have a place on my shelf for ever.

Colette Peters has done it again. Her new birthday book is terrific. She has let her imagination loose and come up with an amazing assortment of fantasy cakes (my favorite is the groundhog cake). Her books are inspirational. I can't wait to try my hand at one of these creations.Hurry up with the next book.

Bought this book as I have several of Colette Peters cake books and I think they are all fabulous. This one is full of good ideas for birthday cakes and could be used for any occasion.
