Kaufhof ALN-2387 Letter and Number Punch Set of 36 Piece 3/8 Inch

After building two roller screens designed to be disassembled for transport,I realized that the structural components would be unique to each assembly. Though the measurements, angles, dados, mortise/tenons are supposed to be the same, slight variations do occur making each of these hand built items a matched set. To ensure that the parts were marked for location and set, a magic marker would not do... a punch set was the answer. After checking all of the options available on Amazon and reading the reviews where available, I decided upon the Kaufhof 3/8" set due to the size of the letters/numbers and the implied durability since they were designed for metal. These punches work great, the impressions in the wood are sharp and clear. This set will no doubt last another generation or two.

Punches have numbers set on a circular base that shows up when you punch it into wood. Ended up having to spend considerable time with a dremel tool grinding the circles out so that I could use them effectively. I would not recommend.
