Worked until it broke
Used for my daughter who has a ton of thick hair and had to have a French twist for a performance. Was working well until it broke after 2 uses!

Too LONG!
This product should either be shorter (so it doesn't stick out at one or both ends!) or it should be offered in two different sizes for those of us who don't have super long and/or thick hair.I didn't really have much trouble getting it on (although it isn't really very easy to get the "stick" through from the top to go through to the bottom hole), but no matter how much I tried, I simply couldn't cover either the top or the bottom of this item with my hair. Consequently, I ended up with a fairly decent bun (at least for a first-timer), but with the item sticking either up through the top of the bun or, conversely, at the bottom of it! Not a very classy look, to say the least!I suppose that, if you have very long hair (meaning close to being near or at your shoulder blades), or thick hair (not fine and fairly thin, like mine), this item would work well. A warning, however, to those who might be thinking about purchasing this bun-maker that, if you do have rather fine, thin and/or "just" shoulder length hair, you probably won't be very happy with the result (having this thing sticking out from one end or the other, and possibly BOTH!).Thus, I would recommend it but, then again I wouldn't, based upon where you fit in the above caveat.

Snapped after a couple uses
Wanted an easy French twist accessory and this just wasn’t it. I have moderately thick hair and this flimsy plastic tool didn’t stand a chance. Would love a metal version.

Awesome French Twist Styling Tool
Ordered the French Twister in dark brown from Amazon because I can not buy it in this color and size in Canada. Already own one but wanted a back-up. I have long, past the shoulder hair length, medium thickness (am 60+). I had initially bought the small size in a shop here not knowing a larger size was an option. The French Twister works very well for me. I use according to the directions but also secure with long hairpins, which are open (as opposed to bobbypins). I find that if I make a part that is very right-sided (or left as the case may be), the front part of the hair seems to have a more appealing effect. I use a rat tail comb to smooth out or adjust the top part of the hair, and of course the hairpins, one near the top side of the head, one at the top of the French Twist roll, and one pushed into the base upward. There are a number of negative reviews on this site and others for this hair accessory, but I think the authors may not be adept at using this or any other hair accessory. I give it five-stars.Update: I've had the French Twister for a while but the stick broke. Just want to mention that a slim crochet-hook works well as a replacement for the stick, I have it in my hair now.

May work well for some
I'm on the fence as to giving this 3 or 4 stars. It's a clever notion, but just didn't work for me.I have long hair, but it's very fine; I think it may work very well for some who have thicker, or a different, more coarse texture of hair, than I do. I tried to make it work, but I have better success doing a French Twist, just using my hands. Also, this tool is just too long for my hair - the ends of the tool stuck out, aren't covered by the hair, and I think that the stick that is supposed to go through is too short.I've noticed that some folks who didn't like this one, really did like the shorter one; so I may try that.

Can't figure out how it's easy for me to get this look.
I never saw directions on the package or anything. I don't even use it cuz it's hard to do french twist bun
