Great machine - good deal.
PROS No Carafe to break. Makes very good coffee, including great Iced Coffee Doesn't burn the coffee, even after 4 hours Has an adjustable timer to schedule automatic brewing (love this - I make the coffee before bed, set the timer, and have a freshly brewed pot of coffee ready right when I get up!) Three brewing settings, a "Default/Standard" setting, a setting for brewing 1-4 cups, and a setting to brew more "BOLD" coffee. Has a sensor which reminds you when it's time to clean it. CONS Takes 10 minutes to brew a pot. (I understand in these days of impatience, people get all hurt if anything takes more time than it takes to put your hand out. However, personally, I don't care - With the timer, the coffee's ready when I get up, but I figured I had to put at least one "Con".) REVIEW We've been using BrewStation coffeemakers for at least 6 years now. Like all coffee machines, they wear out and need to be replaced. Our last one went for about 3 years, and was finally starting to break down. Even with regular cleanings, scale can build up & the coffee can start to take on a more "bitter" flavor. People have experienced problems with the "pot" leaking, and this seems related to plastic bonding breaking down, which leads to leakage from the pot that gets both into the water reservoir & down the back to the counter. I expect it anytime after 2 years, but apparently some people have seen this quickly. If it's within a few months, or even a year, I suspect a manufacturing problem with the particular machine. The only couple of times we've had to contact Hamilton Beach Customer Service (1 earlier BrewStation model 5 years ago with a clock problem out of the box, and a hand mixer) they've been quite helpful & responsive, sending us a replacement which worked fine. That said, this coffee maker works quite well. Brew time seems to run 7-10 minutes - shorter for standard brew settings, longer for the "Bold" or "1-4 cups" setting. A newer feature that our old model didn't have was a meter to tell you how much water to pour into the reservoir for X number of cups. The feature has been included in this model. As such, I don't find making coffee any more of a project than with a standard machine - pour water in the reservoir, put a filter & coffee into the machine, and put the "pot" in place then push a button. Coffee tastes great, and iced coffee is easy to make as well. A bonus travel mug was included with the machine. It is JUST a bit too tall to fit directly under the spout in a straight up-and-down orientation, but it's really not an issue if you have the dozen IQ points necessary to simply tip the cup forward a bit. An alternate page for this same machine has several reviews. The bulk of the 1-2 star reviews center on people complaining that the pour spout is "too close" and they can't get their coffee cups filled without spilling coffee down the front of the machine. The only reason I can see of this happening is by trying to force a travel mug (either the included one, or another similar sized one) in a way that doesn't work, or they're tipping other cups back. Either way, if you have a problem, just move your hand a couple of millimeters - The spout is placed completely adequately for any cup. I've used a half dozen different types and have to intentionally hold the cup in a certain way to force it to spill. (And that's BIG ones - 16-24 ounce cups & mugs - not little doll set china teacups - I like my coffee!) Overall this model seems great & I don't expect any problems with it for at least the next 2-3 years. And at $60, quite a deal. Highly recommended.

Great Idea
I simply have to give this device a 5 star for the idea to bring a cup dispenser to the normal household at a reasonable price. The water tank serves a dual function and is removable. One can simply fill the tank and use it as measure or use some other water container. Once the water is placed into the right area (see manual) all you have to do is grind your coffee or use already ground coffee, push the ON button and off we go.I personally love the smell of freshly brewed coffee, Oh yeah baby! Sorry, drifted a little off here. The model I purchased, has a controller and clock for setting brew times in advance. Setting the clock and auto timer (see manual) is simple, but may take a moment, since it only counts in one direction. Once you have the clock set and auto timer set you can fill the machine with water, place a filter (standard round 6-10 cup) filter and fill with your favorite coffee, press the button and wake up to freshly brewed coffee. I personally don't like to do that, since I am a firm believer, that you'll lose significantly on Aroma over night. So, I'll brew in the morning. I checked on the coffee warmer plate and in fact it does not burn the coffee. The heater will shut off after 2 hours, I think simply anymore time on the heater would evaporate some, given enough time, all of the water and the coffee would taste like burned. Two hours is a safe time and the coffee will still taste fresh. Dispensing the hot coffee is easy and so far worked great. Thank goodness, no more broken glass carafes any more. I have probably three perfectly good coffee machines, all miss the carafe. A new carafe would exceed the purchase price of the machine. What do you do? you go and buy a complete new one. In some case, I have seen the carafe as expensive as $37? The jewel did cost only a little over $30. Buy a new carafe, break it again, buy new, what to do, oh what to do. I guess, its a no brainer.

Third one in 3 years
I love this coffee maker, but have had no luck with durability. My first one broke after about 2 years ... it just completely stopped brewing. I think it happened right after I poured cold water into the still-hot unit ... maybe I damaged something? The second one started leaking brewed coffee from the removable tank after only 12 months. The leak was where the heating plate meets the tank. Tightening those screws did not help, so I am wondering whether I again managed to warp something by filling cold water into the tank while it was too hot? (Not something I usually do, but I think I may have done it once around the time it started leaking.) In any case, I just purchased my third one. I love the ease of use of this carafe-less design, and I love the flavor of the coffee it brews (I am very picky about flavor). The filling can be a bit tricky, but becomes pretty easy with repetition. Dispensing the last cup can result in a few drops dribbling down the side of the cup into the catch tray because of the reduced dispensing pressure, but I solve this problem by tipping the coffeemaker forward with my other hand. Also, it will slide when dispensing, so I just locate the coffeemaker at the back of the counter against the wall. I hope they manage to make it less breakable ... it is inconvenient to buy a new one every year or two, but I will probably continue to do so because I do like it so much. I am telling myself "What's $3 a month for a good cup of coffee?"

Great coffeemaker
I bought this BrewStation to replace my last one, which was the same model and died after five years of daily use. While many people may love those new Keurig one-cup machines, and I do as well, I drink much more coffee than that on a daily basis. The BrewStation eliminates the need for a "pot" for your coffee -- it's all brewed internally, which is nowhere near as complicated as it sounds. The best part about this machine is that it brews very quickly -- there's no need to wait until the entire pot is finished before you dispense your first cup. I can have a hot cup of coffee within 60-90 seconds after turning it on, and because it's all enclosed, your coffee will stay hot much longer than one may expect, even though it has an automatic shutoff after two hours or so (even better; no more "I forgot to turn off the coffee pot" excuses). Cleaning and disposal of old grounds is easy, and if you've got half a pot left inside it the next morning, simply turn it on again and it'll reheat it in a matter of minutes. In short, the BrewStations I've owned are simply the best coffeemakers I've ever had, hands down. Yes, it may be a little more pricy than the $10 discount coffee pot you could get at Walmart, but believe me, it's worth it. There are but two small drawbacks to it, and they're minor at best -- one, you'll not be able to use anything much larger than a standard 8-16oz mug underneath the dispenser, as it won't fit anything larger, and two, the machine itself is quite large for a coffeemaker, so be sure that you can put it somewhere with adequate space (I have mine on my desk in my office) as it's not a "space-saver" sort of machine. If you've got the space and the desire for good coffee, though, you'll love it.

Defective after 8 months!
After 8 months our Brewstation began hemorrhaging coffee! Every morning my wife spreads a clean paper towel under our Brewstation. Every evening it is soaked with wonderful coffee that will never reach our lips. Horrible! I hope ai purchased the extended warrantee. (I usually do!) Hamilton Beach wants me to immerse the bottom of the coffee tank in white vinegar and scrub the dispenser with a stiff brush. I am a disabled 68-year old senior! I cannot perform this prescribed treatment! My previous 5-star review follows: We love our coffee! We thrive on it! We take pride in our coffee and buy quality french roast beans. We had to cut down on coffee for a while, so we brewed our coffee one cup at-a-time using single-cup brewing cones. They worked fine, but our favorite restaurant made better coffee than we did! Our coffee wasn't the best! We couldn't figure out why. Then we bought the 10-cup BrewStation. We received it yesterday. This is Day-Two. Our coffee is now THE best! The Hamilton Beach BrewStation rocks! Caveat: Day-One was problematic. While the BrewStation is wonderful, the documentation is weak and bitter. I ended up calling Hamilton Beach customer service, which was equally weak and bitter. The biggest problem is that Hamilton Beach does not define its "cup" measurement which is unique in my experience. I measured the BrewStation capacity and found out that 10 cups = 48 ounces,( i.e. 1 cup = 4.8 ounces). Doesn't Hamilton Beach understand simple arithmetic? 1 cup = 8 ounces according to the US Standard. We all know that "coffee" cups do not adhere to the US Standard. Most coffee makers consider 1 cup to equal 6 ounces. I use coffee mugs that hold 10 ounces. Ergo, I estimate that a 10-cup coffee maker will produce 60 ounces of coffee, or enough for 6 mugs. Hamilton Beach defines 1 cup as 4.8 ounces, so the 10-cup BrewStation produces 4.8 mugs of coffee. Fair enough! Actually, we often have some left-over coffee which we add to a jar for iced coffee (that we keep in the fridge). There are two more issues that are poorly documented. The first is that your BrewStation will automatically turn off after 2 hours. Just press the power button to turn it back on for another 2 hours. I believe this is a reasonable feature, but I had to read the outside of the carton to find a reference to it! It turns out that this information is contained in the tiny enclosed booklet. The first person to find it wins a full copy of the KJV bible inscribed on a dime! Finally, when I emptied the BrewStation after it's first use there were dots of black coffee-grit stuck to the warming-plate inside the bucket. This must be addressed! A couple of swipes with a few drops of Ajax on a scouring sponge, followed by a good rinse, and you are good to go. PS: Don't get a reusable gold-mesh filter to use with the BrewStation. They don't fit, they can make a mess, and they have to be washed. The BrewStation uses the cheapest and most popular disposable filter on the market! You aren't going green if you go with the gold-mesh. If you experience any color change at all, it is probably your blood pressure rising. The truth is NOW out there! Hamilton Beach makes a great BrewStation, but they couldn't write a manual for a spoon. At least, not in English!

Leaky Coffee Maker
I bought this coffee maker 9 months ago and at first I really liked it. I got tired of looking at the normal makers with the glass container so I decided to get this fancy looking one here. Well about 3 weeks ago it started to leak coffee. The leak comes from the brewed coffee dispenser, there is a metal plate in the middle of it and this is where it is leaking. The pictures below only shows some of the spilled coffee. I was standing right by the coffee maker trying to get the coffee into my cup as soon as it was brewed and it still leaked quite a bit. Since it is under warranty I sent an email to request a new part, it took about 1 week for them to agree that yes it was under warranty and they would send me a replacement for the damaged part. I had to pay $5.99 for shipping and as of today I still have not received that part. If this happens call them, don't send an email as this only delays the process because they keep asking questions. I don't mind paying the shipping fee as this is very understandable but I do mind that it's been almost 2 weeks since I paid said fee and have yet to received my replacement part. I want some real coffee! After it breaks again in 9 months, I will be going back to the boring coffee maker I had before. I gave it 3 starts because I really liked this product up until it leaked coffee all over my counter top.

Review - Hamilton Beach BrewStation
First: Full Disclosure - This is the 4th *Hamilton Beach BrewStation 10-Cup Coffee Machine* that I have owned and used .... I keep coming back to this coffee maker for 3 reasons: 1) it brews consistently good coffee... 2) it is re-markedly easy to use- and 3) it is easy to care for This (and my last 2) has a program feature .... add coffee, water & set timer the night before and you will have hot brewed coffee before you get out of bed ....a really nice feature on cold mornings One major advantage (or plus) is that there is no carafe to clean or break Also - can say with all honesty that none of the previous 3 failed because of a Factory Defect, Poor Workmanship, or Design Flaw .... the previous 3, only failed because I broke them (in one way or another and always involving the water tank) .... with that said, the BrewStation is not easy to break on purpose ... Have never used the filter option - If you use filtered tap water or purchase purified water you may not need the filter option 2 Issues or Design Flaws First Issue - I have with this coffee maker - is that after each - AND - every use, the water tank has to be rinsed out thoroughly with clean tap water .... it is necessary to press the spring "plunger" (bottom front) to flush out the dispenser mechanism ...if a single coffee ground wedges itself in the mechanism - 10 cups of hot coffee will flow from the water tank -to- counter -to- floor - If hot liquid flows on a finished wood surface it will leave a water mark ...in my case, that finished wood surface is the front of my kitchen cabinet Second Issue - also involves the water tank ... accuracy is needed when pouring water from the water tank (if used to measure) to coffee maker ..... the opening in the coffee maker is small and the is not much room for error when pouring - it is very easy to pour water all over the coffee maker & counter top

Love this machine!
I truly love this machine. I've enjoyed every cup I pour from it. My fav part is that an hour, 2, 3 or 4 later, the coffee doesn't taste burnt or old. Grant it doesn't taste as perfect as the first cup, but pretty darn close. Let's be honest, the first cup is always the best. I don't care what machine you use, lol. I read where someone said the coffee tastes terrible, then change up your coffee because it is not the machine. I found using the bold makes even better coffe, and you can use a little less coffee, by at least 2 scoops and it is still delicious. I like to try different coffees, I am extremely picky, not a snob, lol, but taste is everything. I buy and drink my coffee without flavors, other than a splash of half n half, my daughters like it black. So for those of you like us, it makes a smooth, bold, excellent cup of coffee. I'm sure you can use light or medium roast and they would be just as good, but I am speaking for those who like it dark and bold. I haven't tried to make ice coffee yet, which I love ice coffee and the fact that it has this feature, but if I always make extra on my days off, and just pour any left over ice and it's still very tasty. I do agree that you either have to hold the machine while pouring a cup to steady it, but I just put it up against the wall and that works. If you have a long faucet hose, that's how I fill it up, instead of pouring into one part and then the next, whick is a very minor inconvenience. Noisy while perking? Depends on your tolerance, I don't think it is bad. If I have any issues, I will provide an update.

Great!
This coffee machine is very nice. Rather then using the coffee container that came with to pour water into the reservoir I used a pitcher instead which I prefer saves have the fill the container that came with the machine to fill it. Youll see what I mean if you buy one. I prefer a coffee machine with a removal reservoir which is the only issue I have with this machine but not a big deal to put my own water into the back. I like the fact it has no caffee or element to burn the coffee or the element to get worn out. The water stays hot and comes out when you want it. The wife loves it the simple put the cup there and it comes out for you. My previous Hamilton beach I took to work for the guys and Ive had it for 1 1/2 years different model but they work great!

Excellent coffee maker, very easy to use and clean
Broke our old carafe so decided to go carafe free and try the Brewstation! The machine is very easy to clean, the warming function is great keeps the coffee hot and it's not that loud either! There's something cool about having your own coffee dispenser too. My only gripes with the Brewstation that can be easily fixed is by adding extra rubber feet, the machine gets pretty light when there's only a cup or two left and adding a timer to the screen for the warming function. Not enough to minus any stars it's a great machine.

Great coffee pot
I really like this coffee pot works great . The only thing that is a bit annoying is that you can not fit a travel mug in it so you have to use a normal coffee cup to fill your travel mug besides that 5 stars
