Coilhose Pneumatics - Typhoon- 12 Extension with High-Volumestd Tip (EXT12CN-DPB)

This 12” extension nicely complements my Typhoon Pro TYP-2501CS High Volume Blow Gun by providing it with some added versatility. This extension can also be installed on the regular Typhoon TYP-2500CS High Volume Blow Gun with plastic handle.For most general blow off tasks, I prefer to use my trusty 4” Vacula bent tip blow gun. When requiring some additional nozzle length, I switch over to using either my 13”or 20” Vacula bent tip blow gun. I like to use the Vaculas because they’re lightweight and nimble with a high blowing force, and air flow that is precise and easily regulated. However, I purposely purchased this 12” Typhoon extension for the added capability of coupling the Typhoon blow gun’s high air flow with the precision of a longer and straighter nozzle. Basically, I use this whenever I require air flow that is higher in volume but less forceful at the nozzle tip. For example, this now makes short order of blowing grass and debris from my mower deck and cleaning the underside of my riding tractor after mowing the lawn.Unlike the Vacula’s focused jet of air, the output flow from the Typhoon Pro blow gun feels more like a strong, broad wind. When directing that strong airflow output through this extension, it remains undiminished and, subsequently, helps the blow gun to excel at the following. From a standing position, it does a noticeably better job of picking up dirt and leaves from the floor and shooting it out an open garage door. It works great for tasks like blowing dust off of a workbench or blowing pine needles and dried leaves out of the engine compartment of a vehicle. I like that I can also stick it into various styles of tubing and piping to quickly and effortlessly blow out whatever dirt and debris might be inside.In addition to this 12” extension, Coilhose Pheumatics sells straight Typhoon extensions (either with or without nozzles) in 2”, 6”, 12”, 18”, 24”, 36”, 48”, 60” and 72” lengths. Angled Typhoon extensions (with nozzles only) are also available in 6”, 12”, 18”, 24” and 36” lengths. I opted to purchase this 12” length because it is neither too short to be truly useful nor too long for my specific needs. For example, while blowing off my riding tractor and its mower deck, this extension helps me to better access some of the more hard-to-reach areas without impeding my ability to do so (like a longer extension might do). Admittedly, I could do that very same thing with either my 13”or 20” Vacula bent tip blow guns, but the air flow from those feels more like a thin jet of fast-moving air and not like the Typhoon’s broad sweep. Additionally, the 20” length of the Vacula can frequently make that nozzle a bit cumbersome to use in more awkward and/or restricted areas.Instead of a short extension like this one, some people prefer to use the 24”, 48” or even longer length. Many seem to like the longer lengths because, for example, they make it easier to clean mower decks without having to bend over or crouch down so much to do so. That’s not really an issue for me. I actually prefer to get down on my hands and knees so I can really work this shorter extension and its nozzle around a bit, allowing me to more thoroughly clean all the little nooks and crannies of the deck and tractor underside where dirt tends to accumulate. Similarly, many people prefer a longer 24” and 48” extension length because it allows them to more easily air sweep their shop/garage floors without having to bend over so much to do so. That’s a valid point but, again, something I’m not very much bothered by. I find that the broad, sweeping air flow from this 12” extension tends to work just fine for me from a normal standing position. I’d rather own this 12” length, which proves to be more versatile for my own needs, than purchase something like the 24” or 48” extension which I would likely dedicate to just one singular task like floor sweeping. Of course, everyone has their own specific needs, so purchase the extension length(s) that best fit your desired application(s).I purchased this 12” extension from JB Tools (Amazon Marketplace merchant) and it came in its sealed retail display bag. My measurements: 2” (safety tip length), 14” (total extension length including safety tip once installed onto blow gun), 13” (extension length by itself which includes the additional 1/2” long exposed threaded portion on each end), 12” (actual extension length once installed on the blow gun but excluding the safety tip length and both 1/2“ long threaded portions on each end which are no longer exposed), 1/2" (extension outer diameter), approximately 5/16” (extension inner diameter). The extension body seems to be of good quality, unpolished aluminum piping. The safety tip threads easily onto the extension, so it’s not permanently affixed and can be easily removed and replaced. Likewise, the extension threads easily onto the blow gun body. The manufacturer has placed a plastic thread protector cap onto the end without the safety tip cover to protect those delicate threads from damage, debris or moisture during storage…this is a thoughtful touch. No product identification or informational markings are noted on either the extension or the safety tip.The extension is identically male threaded on both ends, thereby requiring a female threaded tip. You must use the included Typhoon High Flow Safety Tip, Female Thread (#HFN-00F-DL) or the optional Typhoon Pro High Flow Safety Tip (#HFN-11F-DL) which must be purchased separately. Unfortunately, those two high flow safety tips and the identical-looking ones that come packaged with either the Typhoon blow gun (High Flow Safety Tip #HFN-00M-DL) or Typhoon Pro blow gun (High Flow Safety Tip #HFN-11M-DL) are not interchangeable. That’s because the high flow safety tips that come packaged with the Typhoon blow guns are actually male threaded, since the blow gun body inlet is female threaded. There is workaround to this issue, though. The optional 1” Typhoon Extension Coupling (#EXT-1-DL), available for separate purchase, can also be used with these extensions. That coupling is female threaded on both ends to facilitate adding a male threaded tip to the 12” extension or doubling it with another extension. The Typhoon Blow Gun Safety Laval Nozzle (#HFN-PT-DPB) I purchased happens to include that 1” coupling. Therefore, I can confirm that the male-threaded high flow safety tip that came packaged with my Typhoon Pro blow gun does indeed attach to one end of that coupling which can then be attached to this 12” extension via the other end of that 1” coupling. While I haven’t yet tried it myself, I think the same thing should work with the Typhoon Tip Assortment Kit (#TYP-TK01). That kit includes a Typhoon adapter for attaching 1/8” tips. If you have the 1” coupling, you should be able to screw the mail threaded portion of that 1/8” adapter into it so that you can then use the 1/8” tips.While I have yet to experience any problem(s) with either this extension or the Typhoon Pro blow gun itself, I am disappointed to find that both are now made in China. I prefer to buy ‘Made in USA’ products because I generally find them to be better quality than the imported stuff. I guess only time will tell if this extension proves to be durable and trouble-free.All in all, I’m pretty pleased with the quality of this extension and its performance, so I've given it a 4-star rating for now. I've deducted one star because I would have preferred it to be 'Made in USA' quality. I would definitely purchase it again. Should anything change, I will update this review.

Finally able to get into them tight spaces where dirt, rocks, pet hair and any other gunks likes to hide! Makes my job so much easier and faster!

This moves alot of air just like the standard tip that comes on the typhoon blow gun, it just kind of sucks you can't put on any of the other attachments that come with the coilhose pneumatics tip kit on this extension.
