Another level
This book made so many things clearer and it was a step above the others so far. Really enjoying this series and the growing relationship with Adam and Gabe.

So thankful I found this!
I'm a young adult novel junkie. It started with the Hunger Games (which will forever be my YA dystopian gold standard) a while ago, and ever since, I've been reading five or so novels a week because I can't get enough of the genre. Admittedly, I have read most of the books and series out there without expecting too much. After all, teenage drama is something to be approached with a sense of humor. However, once in a while, you find that memorable gem that will stay sparkling in your mind long after you put it down. The Frost Chronicles is this type of series for me. Honestly, I don't know if it will be as famous as something like the Hunger Games because I can see how people might not click with it initially. For me however, once I started reading, I just could not stop. As you read it, it because more and more exciting. It starts off seemingly simple, but by the end of the first book you realize it could be epic. By the third book, it is definitely epic and poised to expand even more. The best thing about the series is the writing. This woman can write! The world building is incredible, the way she communicates feelings is incredible, the plot is incredible. I love how, even though it is a first person narrative, you can still sense when the narrator is right and when she is wrong. The narrator's voice is so mature, fluid, intelligent, and (in a weird way) both stoic and romantic at the same time. Also, I very much appreciate how there is no waste in this novel. Every conversation and every plot point is significant to the overall novel/series. It is hard to find a YA novel that does not get bogged down by unnecessary detail and rehashing things we already know.I agree that the books are too short only because I wish I could keep reading them! Practically though, the books are the perfect length for the stories that they tell. Each book is a different journey for the characters, and thus must be demarcated as such. Please give this series a try if you appreciate beautiful writing.

Answers some questions... but not all
Ellison has created a rich world in the Frost, and in this installment she gives readers enough information to answer some of our (and Lia's) questions, but certainly not all. Told through the eyes of Lia Weaver, the Frost Chronicles are rooted in realistic characters and poignant relationships. Lia struggles to care for her disabled brother and younger sister, to make sense of the adult world in which she was abruptly forced, to sort out feelings of love and attraction for the first time, and to choose for herself who to trust and whose orders to follow. In "Weavers," Lia's world is shaken by the arrival of a new Thorns operative whose actions create more secrecy and distrust, especially when he sends Ann and Adam on mysterious missions and insists Lia travel through the portal to test the PLD and retrieve "jumpers" from the other side. She is finally reunited with Gabe, but the months apart and her growing respect for Adam seems to get in the way. While there, Lia learns more about how her world evolved, the origins of the Watchers, and what it means to be a Weaver. The fact that Lia doesn't always make the right decisions only serves to make her more real. She gets mad, she disobeys, she is overprotective and self-reliant when it would be better to accept help - and yet you can't help but admire her drive and stubborn loyalty to those she loves.

Engrossing
These are novelets, maybe a bit pricey for their length, but once I started with the first in the series of 6 I was hooked and just kept getting the next one until I had read them all. Detailed believable world with nuanced characters. If there were more in this series, I'd be getting them. I had to slap my wrist to keep from getting some of the many other books by this author.

A compelling adventure
This is the 3rd in the series and it is really good. It answers alot of questions about the Watchers (monsters)and others. Lia Weaver lives a bleak existence in the Frost and must care for her sister (who is a Blackcoat agent) and her brother ( who is a Thorn agent like her self). Her parents who were Thorn agents were killed and the town of Iceliss has been taken over by the Farther soldiers and everyone is watched. The Watchers come out after dark and kill any human in the woods or outside of town. Lia has a mission to bring the PLD through the gate and find Jacob and give him a message from the Thorns and also find Dr. Borde and give him a message from her brother. It is a dangerous assignment and she is also looking for Gabe, the Farther fugitive who she helped to escape. There are characters who befriend Lia but everyone is suspect and not everyone can be trusted. This a really nice adventure story with an element of romance and mystery and there are alot of puzzles to solve. It is a good read.

This Series Captivated Me From The Start
This is the third book in the series, so if you're thinking of buying this, make sure you read the first two. I like stories with dystopian settings. The main character, Lia, is a teen girl who has to care for her siblings after her parents die. She is constantly working and just trying to keep her head down, but she gets pulled into helping a stranger and risking her own family in the process. This is where Lia's adventure starts. She has to give up safety in order to do the right thing, and she has to learn how to accept and give help when she's used to being the one in charge. In this third book in the series, Lia takes a big risk and learns the origin of the Watchers--terrifying creatures who prowl the woods at night, killing whoever crosses their path. This review really doesn't do the story justice. If you like dystopian/sci-fi tales of survival, hardship and love, you'll like this series.
