The Baldur's Gate Collection (EU)

This is probably my favorite PC game ever. I have played both games, both expansions so many times. Every time you change things up even a little bit - different class for your PC, different party members, NO party members, taking different options in dialogue - you see something new. And the dialogue! Some of the best writing you'll ever see in a game. And none of that includes the wealth of third-party mods.If you have a short attention span and feel like something's missing when your screen isn't splattered with gore, this is not the game for you. This is a long, intricate, beautifully-written plot, with great replay value even after you know all the twists.My only problem with the BG series is my tendency to misplace a disk, and with them now on DVD and neatly packaged together even this is no longer an issue.

This is a great nostalgic trip down memory lane to play.

Yes, this is an older game. No the graphics are not mind blowing. BUT-- I love the non-linear play and all of the permutations. This isn't "find the map-- go to the x-- talk to the character, add them to your party kind of play.You can choose or not choose to do the sub quests, choose your party from a pretty good mix of characters, and customize the characters you do get, and import your "main" character to the next game.This version is a definite improvement over the first couple of versions I got since there is only 1 disc per game. I bought the 6 disc version a few years ago and managed to break disc 3 twice......Bottom line: If you like a good, old style, D&D game this is a must have.

I have been playing this game for almost a year and have only started the second of the four dvds. There are so many things to do and places to go. I would recommend reading a walkthrough for this game. This is a very good game to learn how to play mage. I have never played as a mage before, but to be competetive in this game one of your characters will need to use spells.

I'm giving 1 star because this is one of the cheapest packages I have ever bought, it looks like a pirated copy! No, wait, a pirated copy would look better!!All the disks came in a single case, onve over the other (which caused scratches in almost all of them), on disk(the expansion) came inside the box inside a white envelope!.Oh and all the cool covers on the disks? horrible black and white labels!I regret buying this!Oh the actual game is very good, but it is an old game, do not compare it with current ones, this one is about a very good story very well writen and a vast world to explore.

I've spent two days trying to get this to use the multi-player option. I installed it on an old XT laptop and still can't get it to work. Using a patch I'm able to play in single-player mode on my Win-7, laptop. I already know about the new version that can be played online. Look at it. It's not the same game. I don't want "new and improved." I've been looking for older computers, like an XT (Not XP) on the internet so I can install DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11. I like these older games. Games like this "4 in 1 Box Set..." doesn't work on today's computers without a patch and even then it won't play over the internet or serial port or null-modem.This is one of the best games ever created. It was top rated for years! There are characters and a story-line. Not just kill everybody not in your squad but a real RPG! Travel. Talk to people in the game. Learn. Advance in the story. There's plenty of combat. Even a couple pick-pockets that will steal from your party. Some party members (NPCs) will abandon your party if you are acting too evil or ignoring their needs (side quests). This is a great game. However, expect to play it by yourself. All the other characters will be NPCs (Non-Player Characters).

As shown on box, each game is compiled onto one disc (no more worrying about prompt screens, "Please insert disc x" every 20 minutes. Although you do have to switch between the expansion and regular disc. For example, when I start it up it wants the Sword Coast expansion. When I load to play, it wants the original. But hey, at least they cut out 90% of the annoying switching.Does not come with booklets. Just the four CD's in the box, all in white protector sleeves. The CD art is good quality, however.

I never had the chance to play these games so I ordered them about a month ago, I have a new pc with Win 7 so I was worried about being able to get this game running on a new pc after reading so many forums where people were having trouble. I installed the 1st game in less than 5 minutes and it worked on the 1st try and has worked everytime since with no problems!!! Works perfect on my new Windows 7, there are a couple of draw backs, the game no longer supports updates or even the manual so you will have to dig around online if you want that stuff as well, I never played these games so a manual would make it so so much easier. All and all I'm very happy with the purchase and I am very much enjoying the games.
