The AlumiConn lug style wire connector has been used to make thousands of homes and buildings across the US safe from the fire hazard caused by aluminum wiring. Due to it's insurance company recognition and UL approval, the economical AlumiConn connector has been a highly requested item by Electrical Contractors. Two ports allow conductors to remain separate, permitting the lug to: - Provide lower resistance, therefore lower temperature. - Provide longer-term reliability.

Product is a winner albeit a pricey one.
What can I say being a captive audience to a one of a kind consumer available product for aluminum wiring remediation. Works perfectly if all instructions are followed to the tee without fail (i.e. buy a good torque screw driver). Only big downside of all the alumicon series is the high cost. By the way, I found that unlike the wider 3 port model on which I had a better grip, the 2 port was a bit cumbersome to hold and position during torquing without it twisting in my hand and over-stressing the aluminum conductor (12 awg was what I worked with). Make sure to leave plenty of aluminum conductor length to work with when you use this product, keep your copper leads reasonably short if applicable, and plan ahead with a folding sequence in order to avoid further fatigue of the aluminum connections.

For Aluminum Wiring Mitigation
A great product; pricey, but worth it. Superior to the wire nut type. You will need to buy a screwdriver that ratchets, with torque settings, as these have to be torqued to spec depending on wire size. Be patient and you will get better at it, as you go. You will also need some copper wire to make your pigtails; you can look this up online, as it is not mentioned in the instructions which are otherwise good. I had some that I had saved from other work that I was able to use for my pigtails, and you will need lot of them. Hardest part is fitting all the connectors back into the boxes, as many will need four connectors in one box. Patience prevails! Good luck.

Short of replacing aluminum wiring, these are a great option.
It's hard to review something like this given that it demands five stars unless your house burns down from an electrical fire caused by failure of one of these... since that hasn't happened, I must say I feel a lot more comfortable making copper to aluminum connections with these than I do using the Ideal twist on A/Cu connectors. The caveat is that when using these you need a lot more room in your gang box. I rewired a bathroom and completely replaced the lines to the lighting and vent fans with copper, but the house wire is still aluminum. I needed a handful of these and the similar ones with three connectors in order to accomplish having a vent fan with a light (two separate runs) and another set of lights over the sink (a third run); I had to have a three-wide gang box for two switches (one a double switch, for the ceiling fan/light) in order to fit all the connections.

Very positive connection with no special tools, just a screw driver.
My house built in the mid nineteen sixties, was a medallion electric; one thing, it has aluminum wiring. It was done correctly but I always hoped to upgrade, short of rewiring. In the last couple years I received quotes for crimping cooper pigtails to the aluminum and installing all new recepticles and switches, seem to expensive. Then this past fall another electrician quoted me a upgrade using the King Innovation connectors, less than half the cost. Both methods are approved by national safety groups, if done right. I have used the big purple wire nuts in the past hoping a better method would come around. It has arrived. The connection is so positive and they are not much bigger than the purple wire nuts. Recently I added new lighting in my kitchen, I ordered and used these connectors. Any new wiring added to the existing will be done with the King Innovation Connectors. In the near future I plan on having the electrician come through and upgrade all the switches and recepticals using the King Innovation Connectors.

Perfect for the job
(I have the same review on the 3-port version of these) These are amazing! My house was a hodgepodge of aluminum and copper and I'm not helping things by adding circuits. These are much easier to put on than wire nuts and take all of the guesswork out of applying that messy goop when you're mixing Al and Cu. Be careful if a wire comes out, because that goop will get on you and anything within about a 10 foot radius (at least, that's been my luck with messy, stainy things). They are quite bulky, so they won't be the best for a box that's already crammed full of connectors, but aside from that, they're a godsend. I purchased a torque screwdriver to use with these and have found that the standard German torque "gutentite" is just about right; save yourself the $60 bucks.

Good product, saves money
We've done a fair amount of electrical work in our new house. It was built in the 70's with aluminum wiring. Had an electrician replace the aluminum with copper in all areas where we opened up the walls/ceilings. Then I went through the house and installed the Alumiconn connectors at all j-boxes, switches, and outlets that still had aluminum. They are fairly easy to connect. The 15 in-lb torque requirement can be a little rough on the hands. Also they take up more room in the box than regular wire nuts, especially if you have to connect more than 3 wires, which requires multiple Alumiconn connectors. If anybody is doing a remodel with aluminum wiring, I recommend buying boxes with the largest volume that will fit in your walls to accommodate these connectors. Overall, they are a good product. Saved me about $4000. I'd give 5 stars if there was a more compact way to connect 4 or more wires.

Possibly the best solution for Aluminium wiring
This product is UL approved which to me is better than CSA. Expensive per connector and you need one or even better 2 torque wrenches to insure that Al is tightened to 10 inch-lb and copper to 15 inch-lb. Al wires in our house are 12 gauge.

Work great for fixtures where only 2 wires of each color ...
Work great for fixtures where only 2 wires of each color are connected. Copper and aluminum wires are connected together without touching each other.

Product should arrive sometime.
I never received the product, but if I had I'm sure all 25 pieces would have graced my aluminum wiring.
