45mm x 18mm Luggage Replacement Wheels Suitcase Wheel Replacement Kit

I ordered the 45mm x 18mm size to replace the casters on my Samsonite 20 in. Model 337 Zahora hard shell overnight suitcase which were starting to fall apart after over 10 years. These ended up being the perfect size; the product ships with two sets of four axles (1.5 in and 1-3/8 in.) and the shorter of these worked perfectly for me. No instructions included with casters so here are some helpful tips (photo is of my suitcase with new casters installed): (1) You need a bit of do it yourself experience (see next tip) (2) As one other purchaser reported, the old casters on my Samsonite were NOT designed to simply unscrew and remove. I had to use a hacksaw to cut through the axle on all four caster to remove the old ones. This is not as hard as it may sound, just be sure to protect your hands, and use a new hacksaw blade. The steel is not hardened so it was relatively easy just took some time. Cut slowly and at a 90 degree angle to avoid damaging the plastic swivel holders. (3) The product ships with washers which I ended up using on the OUTSIDE of the screw/swivel holder. This seemed to be correct but again no instructions. Placing these on the inside would take up too much room - the wheels fit perfectly without them. (4) Use two allen wrenches (included) when tightening the axle screw. Screw all the way down tight; there are no lock washers but it appears that the intent was to make this a very tight connection, The new wheels spin freely for me after tightening. Don't OVERTIGHTEN - these new axles and screws are also not made of hardened steel and you may damage the allen wrench connection on the screw if you do. Just tighten securely. (5) Replacement wheels and axles actually seem to exceed quality and function of OEM product.

The wheels arrived quickly and in good condition. They were exactly what I was looking for. They are good quality and I expect long service life from them. I really like the two different length axil shafts. The only hard part was removing the original wheels, that in my case were riveted. I found the easiest way to remove them was cut up the old wheel so that I could use a hacksaw on the center axil. This also had the bonus of not damaging the original caster brackets that hold the wheel. Once the old axil was removed the new ones were easy to install in less than 2 minutes.

Had to drill out old wheels but easy to install and they work great. Suitcase just like brand new and ball bearings are very sturdy

Purrrrfect for my cat wheelchair I am building for a rescued kitty! They're super quiet, durable and move very easy when they roll. I will probably be buying them again soon because I have several other requests for wheelchairs, but I cannot afford that and neither can the rescues. Grateful they come with the hardware too..

I replaced the wheels on my samsonite carry-on with these. The original wheels were destroyed by cobblestone in Europe. I measured carefully and they fit perfectly. They are much better made than the original wheels which had a plastic shaft that the axle went through, these are metal with bearings. They spin very easily and the tire part is solid as opposed to hollow on the original wheels. I assume they will be much more durable. It was a little bit of a project to remove the old wheels as the axles had to be cut since they were riveted in place. I used a sawzall and it was pretty quick. The whole process took about 30 minutes. Not sure if it’s something that most people would want to do, but the new wheels are great.

These are really good replacement luggage wheels. The solid rubber on these replacement wheels will last a long time and are much better than the original rubber-coated plastic wheels that some luggage comes with. These replacement wheels are easy to install -- AFTER drilling-out the rivets to remove the old wheels (that was the hardest part of the installation -- removing the old wheels). The kit includes Allan wrenches and washers which are need to to install the replacement wheels. The luggage rolls smoothly as soon as these solid rubber replacement wheels are installed.

Worked perfectly for an American tourister luggage bag. Though original wheel was 37mm, 45mm rolls better

TLDR: it’s a very good replacement for my Samsonite carry on hard shell spinner suitcase wheels. I kept the Samsonite mount, hacksawed the Samsonite axle out, popped out the worn wheel and installed the new wheel with its new axle. So far, two trips in and the wheels are still on. Long story, why not: My hard shell suitcase started rolling out of line, and eventually became very difficult to maneuver. It was so bad that carrying the rolling suitcase seemed like the only way to transport it. Upon examination, I soon learned what the issue was: the rear wheels were worn out in a very peculiar pattern- slanted inwards, leaving only a small thin sliver of wheel to roll on. Of course the suitcase wasn’t going to roll very well like that. And, of course, Samsonite wasn’t going to just sell spare wheels to replace the existing ones. Faced with the inevitable fate of the dumpster, I had little to lose ordering these wheels for the suitcase. Guided by good ‘ol Google, I looked up a tutorial on YouTube where a nice person showed a step by step. In summary; flip the suitcase over, brace the wheel mount (he had a tool, I used my hand) and hack at the axle until it is sawed in two, pop out the old wheel, pop in the new wheel, screw on the new axle, done! The hacksawing part was by far the hardest part of the journey but I managed to do it, and if you want to keep your suitcase out of the landfill, or avoid spending money on a new suitcase- so can you! After that, my suitcase is rolling around like new. I only replaced the two rear wheels so I’m keeping the two spare wheels for when the front ones give out. I’ve done two trips and the wheels are still going very strong. Overall, superb deal!

I needed to replace a broken suitcase wheel. Very happy with these wheels and the hardware. Work and look great !

Worked well but requires some elbow grease to remove the old wheels. I had to drill out the old shafts while at the same time trying to keep the drill bit from melting the caster supports. But once removed, the new hardware was installed easily. The kit included two Allen keys and two sets of axles (different lengths) to fit variances in casters. Plus several spare bolts were included just in case. A nice touch.
