Hi Amazon community. I'm in Dallas TX. We have Bermuda grass and horrible soil. Any expert opinions on this product for this application?

This designed to remove thatch from the grass to allow new grass to breath and grow. In that regard it does an excellent job. Removing thatch in itself will not improve your soil.

Can you use any handle or do you have to buy the Gardena handle?

You have to buy the Gardena handle.

Can the rake part be turned, so that I am pushing the tool, instead of pulling it?

Not that I am aware of. It have worked wonderfully for me the way it is designed to be used.

Would this work well enough on my 0.4a yard with thick, low-laying thatch or should I just get a motorized dethatcher?

Get a motorized one. Good quality unit, but difficult to pull through thick thatch. You would also have to purchase the special handle.
