Totally fine. The mat is shaped to take the shape of the open straighteners. I use it to rest them during use and also to cool down straighteners after use. **Q: Will this fit extra wide GHDs** A: I’m not sure as it’s a little narrow at the top? I don’t have those kind of straighteners to test for you unfortunately! It’s a fantastic heat mat, that’s what I use it for mostly, but does house my curling tongs just fine if I’m going anywhere.
