I recently ordered this Indonesian phrase book, and I believe it will be quite useful for my upcoming trip to Indonesia .It provides handy phrases for communication. However, there is a notable translation mistake on page 8 where it incorrectly translates "nasi goreng" as "fried chicken." This error could lead to confusion for travelers, but aside from that, the book is a valuable resource for learning Indonesian phrases.

Speaking with a native from Java, some phrases in here are not quite right, but a nice and handy guide.

This book has a different setup that most language phrasebooks I've come across, but can still be very helpful. It explains more of the concepts behind phrasing instead of just listing a word-to-word translation. It also provides cultural advice. It's fairly small, making it easy to throw into your bag or pack and take with you for your travels. I personally found it most useful in combination with another phrasebook/dictionary.

I like the difference in how this revised edition is arranged versus other Indonesian phrase books I have used. By focusing on the most often used 100 words and including sample sentences, I think it is the a better way to practice speaking indonesian quickly. Even after thee years of using Indonesian, I still learned some new ways to express myself. The author includes the indonesian alphabet in the beginning. The only improvement I could think of was that for each of the 100 words, pronunciation should be added when the word is introduced rather than only 2 pages at the beginning of the book, which is why I took 1 star off. The additional vocabulary words at the back make this a well-rounded phrase book and the best I have found so far.

This little book proved to be a very helpful tool when travelling in Indonesia. It is up-to-date and is easy to learn.

I went to Indonesia for a road trip of several weeks and this little book helped me a lot. I was able even to make phone calls to guesthouses and book rooms and use it when our car broke down as well. Highly recommended.
