WELLA Color Charm Permanent Liquid Hair Color for Gray Coverage, Ash Blonde

I really like this brand. It leaves my hair shiny and the treatment lasts a long time. I have long hair, so I use two boxes. The resulting color depends a lot on what you already have in your hair, but I've noticed that the color always turns out even.

Honestly, my favorite brand of dye. Exactly as pictured. Did not fade too much, clear instructions, honestly everything you can ask for. People said it made their hair turn darker, it’s the developer they used. I guess their developer was too strong. I went from bleach blonde hair, to dark blonde, using 10 developer. Worked great.

This is my natural hair color, I bleached it a year ago and dyed it purple with overtone over the summer up until this December. it had a lot of root regrowth and the and the purple completely faded. I applied it all over, my roots are a bit warm and the ends show a little bit of a green hue, so I may tone again soon- but all in all the color looks close to natural and MUCH better for visiting my fiancé’s mom next week. It also looks so much better so when I walk into a salon to get it done professionally finally I won’t be completely embarrassed with what I have done to my head lol

I love Wella. Their products are super amazing. I bought this color to do some highlights on my hair and it worked great. Check it, I had my husband do the highlights for me and I asked them to do some teasing before he out of the color, needless to say, he made a total birds nest on my head. So ladies, if you’re going to use this color to do highlights or Simply to color your hair, please do not ask your husband to do it. Of course I am super grateful that he is amazing and he helped me to do it when you’re doing this color do a one to two ratio with the processor. Meaning, one part color two parts processor. It’s super easy to mix. Super easy to apply and the color comes out. Very nice. Leave it on for 20 minutes and you’re done. Let me know what kind of disaster happens to you.

So I took a risk... I had chat gpt give me a suggestion on how to fix the reddish and blonde tones in my hair. I have natural 7n/6n ashy mousy hair. And I have been struggling for years to get the last bit of old damage out of my hair. But I had home when I saw a few other ladies had used the double ash to get their ends to look like their roots in a similar color. (GPT suggested I use it for my hair goals) And it freakin worked. It will take a few washes to get the "black/green" look out but after that's done its great.

I bleached part of my hair (duh) from black to the point where it was lil bit brassy/dark blonde in 4-5 sessions in one day with Schwarzkopf bleach (amazing stuff btw) and I used the wella 6A/462 with Schwarzkopf 20 vol developer. (DO NOT USE IT ALONE WITHOUT THE DEVELOPER AND DO IT IN A VENTELATED SPACE BECAUSE THIS STUFF IS STROONG!) It came out to this lovely brown color. It’s good for a coverup color while giving your hair a break from bleaching (do it if your hair isnt too damaged from whatever bleach youre using! Toner is pretty strong chemical!) I used a deep conditioning hair mask to keep my hair from being damaged. My hair is very thick by the way. Sorry I don't have before pictures! It washes out pretty fast, I say about a week and a 1/2 to two?? But I bleached afterwards anyways because I planned to go lighter. I used the measurement ratio of 3 parts of 20 developer and 1 part toner.

During Covid I have not been able to get my normal hair color, Redken Fusion 6N. Redken color is more on the "ash" side rather than neutral. I tried the Wella 6N but it's got a green base and it really shows through, at least on my hair. I like a smokey blonde color. So I ordered the Wella 6A. Success! In fact, I like it better than the Redken color! I definitely got the smokey color, not too light, not too dark. It does a good job covering my gray. I got this liquid hair color to try, I prefer the tube type but this really worked well for me. I will definitely keep purchasing this color. I did use Wella 20 Volume developer with this product.

So in the first picture i have the bottom half of my hair with black box dye from like a year or 2 ago and the top half is bleached and dyed with semi permanent color which lasts longer than permanent on bleached hair. I used shade 6A on the top half of my hair and what i had left over i mixed with 4NW for the bottom half. This product does not claim to lighten dyed hair at all so i was concerned about that but i think it did pretty well. You can see the line of untouched roots, its very obvious, it doesnt look the same. The bottom half of box dyed hair definitely looks the same. Over all 6A was not ashy or even blonde in my opinion, even on the virgin roots. It did wash out super easy but my hair also felt STRIPPED more so than with other dyes. I used a hair mask and its mostly fine now. I have no idea what to do about the roots.

Really beautiful, shiny colour. It covered the orange tone as well as the greys quite well. I used a 20 developer and let it sit for 35 minutes after application.

I have neutral light brown hair roots, and been trying to match it... but this 6A seems lighter than other brands, thus I think I'm getting some lift with 20 vol, so this is countering the ash tone color it should provide, so results are more orangy tones. I will try 5AA next to see if that works better for me.

TLDR: The bottle I got was not Dark ash blonde, but a medium brown. It ruined my level 7/8 roots and level 9 ends and turned it a level 4/5. The texture and consistency were off majorly and made an absolute mess. Don't trust dyes on Amazon, regardless if you bought it before, as there's no telling where it comes from. So I don't know what happened to the batch I got. I've bought from Wella on Amazon before, but I don't know if it was expired or someone just put a completely different color in. It was watery and turned my hair to a medium/darkish brown! I started with golden level 7/8 roots and beautiful level 9 ends. I only wanted this color for my roots, as they weren't to my liking and too warm for me compared to my ends. The application was impossible with a brush, and even so with my hands. The consistency is usually a jelly/creamy texture, except mine was pure liquid. Like water liquid. Anyway, I tried to apply it anyways with a brush, thinking I could get it done if I was careful. I WAS careful, except the dye dripped onto my level 9 because it was so damn watery, which made me apply the dye all over. I was so upset about it but thought, hey, you saw a review of someone with the same root color as you, and it looks nice so what the heck, it'll prob wash out. Not only was my sink was an absolute mess, but I only left it on for around 15 minutes because it was looking uber dark. As it turned out, reader, it DID become dark. And not dark blonde dark. But level 3/4 dark. Now, I know wet hair is super dark anyway and doesn't reflect the color when dry, so I waited until my hair was completely dry. Well, it's completely dry now, but still not the color I thought I got. My hair looks like a mousy level 4/maybe 5. Not the level 6 I got at all. My hair is completely ruined, and I'm so upset this happened. My hair was a beautiful blonde! A blonde that took a while to get too. I'm debating if I should go back to my natural color now, as it was a level 2, cause there is just no point. My hair is ruined and the color I loved is way gone. I'll have to re-bleach my hair to get it back, and there is no way I'm doing that. I've attached photos for reference. The blonde was taken in florescent lighting, the brown in natural light. To say I'm angry and upset is an understatement. I want a refund as this was not even close to the color I asked for.

I have a grown out balyage. This dyed my blond parts brown and lifted my dark brown roots a shade up and turned them red. Used 20 vol developer.
