*****************************Some Spoilers Be Warned******************************My oh my.....and here I thought I was head over heels in love with Nix!!!!! Which I still am of course!!! But Sylas! I've gotten my High and loved every damn bit of it. There's so much to this story that will have you reeling with emotions out of control you won't know what to do with yourself. The devastation that Sy has went through broke my heart. No one should have to go through what he did. Then Holly, #shit what can I say about her situation that it hit way close to home for me. I had cried so hard that it caused me to stop reading for a day so I could get my #shit together.Sy in the beginning with Holly is a number 1 #asshole the way he kept pushing her away but yet came back again. Nothing like getting banged up against the wall and walking out leaving her naked and alone, confused and hurt. I wanted to hate him for doing that but knowing what he's went through I understood why! Then #shit hits the fan with Holly and man did she change for awhile hiding behind a facade that Sy knew was nothing but a lie. He couldn't understand what she was hiding from him. He thought it was because of the trauma she went through from the shooting but it was soooooooooooooooooooooo much more than he could even imagined. Once Sy finds out he loses it and feels betrayed by her at first. I didn't know if they could pull themselves back together again.Nothing like reading the Prologue of the book and the 1st thing you have to do is stop to take a breather and catch your breath with wiping your snotty nose and runny eyes. One minute your in a chapter laughing out loud go to the next chapter and your like well #fuck me! Grabbing the tissues and wiping your eyes and snotty nose. The one chapter had me quitting the book for a day so I could get myself together because it did effect me. I love books that can pull you out like that and River seemed to hit the nail on the head dead center with that damn hammer cause she left me in a book hangover that I still haven't read another book now for 3 days. SMH!!!!!!! Great job sweets!!!!! I can't wait for Jesse!!!!! Wooooooo I think she's going to kill us all before this is over with! Ok so some of ya know I am going to type some of my favorite parts of the book! I can't help myself I have these bad boys HIGHLIGHTED and MARKED!!!!! :)HOLLY: Tell him? God, I wish I could just let it all come out, but i'm just so caught up in my darkness I don't know how to let anyone in. Not even the one person I should be letting in. And that shames me each day, knowing what I hide from him.SYLAS: Instead, I focus on what she doesn't want people to see: the darkness prevailing. It threatens to send her into oblivion, one I know about all to well, I've had years to perfect the facade she's now putting on show for the world to see, but she's so absentminded and lost in her own thoughts she doesn't even realize how obvious it is.HOLLY: The dynamics of our relationship is unlike what I've ever had before, but I know what Sy offers is what I need. He gives me permission to not be okay, to struggle and fall, and in return, I surrender. I allow him to take the lead and guide me back because it it weren't for Sy, I'd still be sitting in the dark, exhausted, and fighting alone.SYLAS: I haven't said those three words to a woman since Katie, and even though Katie gave me something irreplaceable, Holly has given me something I didn't know I needed: her light. I look at her and I see something more. She makes me forget about the past, the one where I had it all. She takes the constant ache that lives inside of me and turns it into something I don't deserve.. And when she looks at me, #fuck, when she smiles up at me, everything changes. The old gets lost in the new. Her light shines through my darkness and as I stand here in this moment making love to her against the bathroom counter, I realize my "affliction" doesn't matter. She matters.So much stuff going on in this book!!!!! And the steam factor is off the charts!!!!! Whew!!!!!! I had to fan myself a few times!

Another amazing book by River. This one hit especially close to home for me so was a little tougher to read but I did love it anyway.

Before I get to my review I have just a little to say about River.I am part of her fabulous River Rebels StreetTeam, and during the process of her writing Affliction, I watched how she struggled emotionally with Sy and Holly's story.I can now finally understand why.River can write pain better than most I know, not just physical but emotional, mental and she does it in a way that you don't just sympathize with them, but you Feel exactly what they are, every raw, brutal, heartbreaking, soul sucking moment.This by far is one of the most touching stories I have Ever read.River, you should be incredibly proud of not just your work, but Yourself.Ok, Sy and HollyAffliction runs alongside of Incandescent on the timeline for most of the time, in Sy and Holly's POV. But does skip back to Sy's past every so often, giving us a taste of who this gorgeous man is and all of the pain he has endured.From the second I met these two in Incandescent, I Knew they were perfect for each other. I loved that crazy, full of life Holly and Sy, the sexy ass bad boy .... Damn I knew there was a lot going on under all that bitterness.Sy has many layers, this brooding bad boy has been dealt a pretty harsh hand at life, shutting people out and not getting emotionally attached is his way of coping. So when a feisty, full of attitude blonde walks into Ink Me with Kadence, he was not expecting to be so effected.Holly want to find out just how much ink this biker has, but gets shot down by his silence, that all changes pretty fast when Sy can not fight his attraction to her.The cat and mouse chasing between these two is funny as hell, Sy and his over the top demands, insane moods and panty-soaking dirty mouth, gets under the skin of the flirty, teasing, #NoShitTaking Holly.In one tragic moment, that vibrant woman is gone, leaving behind a very broken Holly.But what Sy does next, is breathtaking. No matter how hard it is, no matter how broken he is or how much he is pushed away, he stands strong to be there for her, in-turn making both himself and Holly stronger.Watching these two build a friendship, building each other back up is remarkable to say the least, the chemistry is off the charts and when these two unleash all the pent up sexual tension ... Woah! Turn on the fan and forget the panties, these two will steam up more than just the pages.These two show that no matter how much heartache you've had, how broken you've become, there is always that one person who is there to breathe the life back into you.I love that we get to see what's happening with Nix and Kadence, as well as all the other guys and a special new meeting of "H" ;)I can not wait for more from River to meet some more of the Knights Rebels.I've had my #NixFix my #SyHigh now bring on Jesse. Este romance me conquistou bem antes do lançamento quando a autora começou a revelar pequenos trechos do texto e alguns pequenos detalhes da história. Não quero entrar em muitos detalhes para não estragar a surpresa para outros leitores.É um belo romance, bastante emocional, ambos os personagens principais precisando superar traumas do passado e do presente para qua o amor prevaleça. Contudo, apesar da forte carga emocional, há um bom mix de romance sexy e humor.Affliction supera em qualidade o livro anterior, Incandescent, seja pelo desenvolvimento dos personagens principais, seja pela fluidez e ritmo da história. Na verdade, este romance acaba por se destacar no gênero romance biker, pela originalidade da trama central. Recomendo.

Oh wow I loved this. Made me laugh & cry, and I had a lump in my throat on many a page. Sy actually stole my heart & I'm so pleased him & Holly fought through it all & found their very own HEA.

Affliction is the second book in the Knights Rebels MC series and follows Holly and Sy who we meet in the first book Incandescent. Holly is fun, flirty, confident and Kadence's bestfriend. Sy is a mystery, one of the newest brothers of the Knights Rebels, with a past that not a single person here knows about. Since the first time Holly bounces into Sy's life, there is an attraction with both. It's a push and pull relationship with these two. They push eachother to the edge, know exactly what buttons to press.Sy is broody, mysterious and the silent type. Love him already? Yep. And a tatted, tattoo artist. Helloooo. Holly is a ball of energy and personality oozes from her. She could always hold her own, but in this one, my heart broke for her so much. Kadence and Holly went through a traumatic experience together in Incandescent but it's the aftermath of that that knocks Holly down and near enough breaks her. This also effects Sy, causing his past to clash with his present.Sy is the only one that can truly get through to Holly, not even Kadence can.In my opinion Holly was the light to these story's, she was a ball of energy and is the kind of person everyone needs as a friend, will They have a long road ahead of them with bumps along the way. Sy stops at nothing to pull Holly out of the darkness, pulling himself out of his own darkness, being Holly's light and healing both of them in the process.Sy has a past that nobody knows about, we learn a little about it from the start but his story unravels bit by bit throughout the book then we get to understand Sy and connect with him on so many levels we hadn't before.From the prologue we are pulled in, our emotions being gripped. River really done this beautifully, evil genius that she is. This one will tug at your heart strings from the very start, snap your heart strings and then slowly but surely piece your heart back together. It's sexy, gripping, dark and dangerous as expected from an MC, however it's not overly dark and those with a faint heart will still thoroughly love it. The characters go through a lot in this one, heartbreak, revelations, loss but my favourite thing about MC books, and in River's series to be precise is the theme of family, not blood family, but family out of choice and love and that's so strong in this book and o course with the promise of hot alpha bikers and their sassy women. What more could you want?LOTS MORE! can't wait for Jesse's story!!

Another fantastic addition to the series.Hot in all the right places, Great characters, sexy hot Alpha males and a great plot with drama in the mix, what more could you ask for in an MC read.Sy, a hot sexy tattoo artist part of the Knights Rebels MC , he's the broody member of the bunch with hidden dark and dismal past that he hasn't even shared with his own brothers.Holly is the best friend of Kadence who is happily settled with Nix the president of the MC who's story featured in the first book. Holly is sassy and loud in the first book but an incident leaves her withdrawn.These are two characters who are both in dark places within their heads and only each other can bring them light.Holly calls Sy sunshine something that started off as a joke due to his moody broody attitude when in the end he does end up being the ray of sunshine in her life.I loved the push and pull in this romance, both characters fighting the attractions and both at different stages living in denial that there is more than just lust between them.Affliction is a great read with lots going on, I love all the characters and the author did a brilliant job of tying the first book and this together without repeating previous events as the two do cross over.A must read for any biker book enthusiasts, there's a fabulous mix of action and fan me down hot scenes. Affliction can be read as a standalone but advisable to read the first book to get a broader picture on previous events that have taken place to Holly and Sy meeting and how they both first ended up in the Knights Rebels MC.Looking forward to more in this series. Jesse's book is next and he is the man whore of the MC and I look forward to seeing who claims his heart.Told in first persons dual pov's and leads to a hea.

★Review★Another great addition to the series.Not as light-hearted as book 1 in my opinion.The first 25% or so touches on the timeline and events from book 1 - I would say it is necessary to read book 1 first, as a lot of the first quarter of this book, is a re cap, and the knowledge of book 1 is needed.But, it is a great story - as a reader being able to understand why Sy is as he is, and seeing the changes Holly goes through, how she changes after she is shot and dealing with the aftermath, to how she comes back to her self again, with the help of Sy.Sy is a great character - his pain and past is truly heartbreaking, and his determination to help Holly overcome her pain, while still being in the dark about all she is hiding.I really enjoyed the story and how thier relationship built and developed from a purely sexual one, to an almost reluctant friendship to a true love.But and this is why it is not a five, I never really quite truly understood why Holly did not tell Sy straight off, and why she took so long to tell him about her pregnancy and subsequent loss.
